1974 is clearly wrong, as the number appears on the live album "You Had To Be There", and it came out in 78/79.
I don't have my tix stubs with me, but it was during the 84-86 tour period. I saw him do this replacement tune, and it was a classic. Too bad for the Buckley family, as Jimmy always gave Lord Buckley credit for it every time he performed it. As a result Buckley is better known than he would have otherwise been, as I know of no other artist who regularly performed and credited Buckley as much as JB.
I only wish I had a copy of it.

Now I've got a terminal daydream,
That's something you'll never know
I keep it right here in my backpack, mon
And I take it wherever I go.

Nope, I Am Right!
You are actually wrong my friend, it came out on the Living & Dying in 3/4 Time album in 1974.

But it is on the You Had To Be There album as well, but I was correct!
JM
P.S., You Had To Be There is a live album covering songs from previous studio recordings.

jollymonhello,
clearly it is on "living and dying", but that was not the question. read the title to the post again, and then reread the 1st post.
you are of course correct if we are asking a "different" question.
