I learned that....

1. The parking lot in Irvine on Saturday was simply the WILDEST I have ever been to at any venue! (Even Jimmy mentioned that it was the craziest Irvine show he could remember) :pirate:  :o :D

2. Elrod, School Girl Heart and Come To The Moon will drop any thing at any time to attend a Jimmy show...regardless of time and distance to travel......you guys are AWESOME! 8)

3. Crabman brings very good Tequila....thanks for the shots.

4. I found more people that knew of me....and all of you.....that only lurk and never post. They were coming by asking for "SecretsInTheCrust" :o
(Go ahead and post folks...we don't bite....ok NJPP may take little nibbles, but they are only because she likes you!)

5. Gary Seiler can move a crowd.....Gary, Thanks again for playing the SDPHC Tiki Bar in Chula Vista. 8) :D

6. It is a hoot to follow around an unoPHicial T-Shirt vender through the lot and point out to any perspective buyer that the Schmuck spelled Buffett with only one "T". (Front and back) :x  :o   ...He offered me a couple of free shirts to stop! I now have a collectors item!

7. Jimmy Buffett blushes when the contest winner begins to do a strip tease during Hokey Pokey....she did Saturday Night.....Too funny.

8. SDPirate40 has an Incredible car!!!!!! Sweet ride! 8)

9. Women will do or reveal nearly anything for some 99 cent plastic beads! 8) :o :pirate: :pirate: :D

10. Chula Vista's tailgating is coming of age....not quite the Craziness of Irvine or some other venues....but getting there.

11. Without trying I was able to make 2 videos at 2 venues...Las Vegas..Sunday....and Chula Vista. (Methinks that I must run in the right circles) 8) :o

12. I cannot WAIT Till next year! Thanks Jimmy for a great summer! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

well, i will add, as others have in the past. the parking lot after the saturday show.....was a mess.....garbage and broken bottles all over the place. i think it is mostly the young people doing this. they just don't care.
if you are a young person and you cleaned up after yourself, you are the exception.

chula vista needs to train their even staffers (saftey team) in anticipating a problem before it starts, instead of letting something happen, and then taking care of the problem when it is almost too late.

from lake forest drive to irvine center drive took about an hour, perhaps more to get into the amphitheater. while i was waiting, a lady in an suv was waiting also. turned out she worked at the amphitheater and had to leave for a doctor appointment, and then had to go back. after asking if she had any extra tix, she said that the management can't understand the big deal about people wanting to get in early to tailgate. i think she hinted that they would prefer everybody come in at 6pm, watch the show and then leave. oh well.

did any body else see fire works going up behind the stage near the end of the show? did any one hear anything about a riot in the parking lot during the show, and thus the need for the helicopter?

did any songs change from the thursday show to the sat show?

I think this Irvine show was for sure the craziest one ever and that's saying A LOT for Irvine! What a great day, I was at a Buffett show and the Angels SPANKED the Yankees :D and we had our t.v. with us there to watch it! GO ANGELS!

and...plenty of empty seats around the loge 5 area row kk....and above and below.

There are always tons of loge seats open at Irvine every year. All the damn brokers buy all the tickets up and then they try selling them for $150 and they go to waste.

also, the parking lot staffers could use some training on how to direct traffic, to help with getting cars in and out little quicker. most of them kept playing with their flashlights, wondering if they worked. at shoreline in mountain view, ca. they have people directing traffic after the show , almost a mile away from the venue. doesn't necessarily make it easier to get out of the parking lot, but after your out, what ever traffic lights are involved, are held a little longer than usual.

Re: What I learned at Saturday night's show:

1. If you have flag(s), be sure to take them down before you go in to the show.
I never have a problem leaving my flag flying at any other venue (and hadn't had a problem until last year), but my Skull & Crossbones flag (and pole) were ripped off from the truck during (or shortly after) the show.

2. The "decorum" of the Irvine crowd is on a downward spiral and the local law enforcement is well aware of it. Leaving the front gates we saw 20+ officers in riot gear...I haven't seen that since I saw the Stones back in '81!

3. I can quit yammering about Jimmy playing the same tunes too often: When he reaches into the hat and pulls out gems like "The Wino and I Know" (1974) and "Tampico Trauma" (circa 1980 or so), I think the message is getting across :D .

4. TSITC knows good Tequila.

5. Daddymention knows good beer, however he and Mrs. Mention haven't made public how to refer to their 'keet in Buffett vernacular. I suggested "Junior Ments" for the lad..If it takes, I'll feel honored. If not, I'll just assume that they came up with something better.

6. The she-crab and I are TOO OLD to stand on the lawn all night. As steep as it is, the footing gets treacherous (I have a sore lower back and a tight hamstring to prove it) as the night wears on.

In any case, Saturday night was one of the best shows I've seen Jimmy and the band perform over the years. The loss of my second flag in as many years isn't as big a deal as it seemed last night (I ordered a new one today for less than $20 including tax & shipping).

We'll see you all next year (and possibly do a few new venues).

O.K. I'm back home now....

WOW!!!

First of all it was a great show....it was for sure the best set list all year long...I was very excited to hear "The Wino and I Know" and "Tampico Trauma"...The energy of the crowd was oh so gooooood!!

It was great meeting more of the BN crowd--Crabman, She-crab, and friends---thanks for the Ballast Point!! (as for your suggestion of Junior Ments for Shane----how bout I twist it a bit in the opposite direction----Junior Mintion :D ) Let me know what you think...
El Pablo--very cool to mention Tommy's...I will call ahead next time for the frozen gallon size...thanks for chatting....your opinions on what Irvine has become was definitely being proved all day long and into the night...and Glenn, Shane thanks you for the Juicyfruit--as soon as we got there, Shane said let's go find Glenn...he knows a cool dude when he sees one...
All of you made the party such fun...thank you!!

We were parked right across from the "free shots for tits" group...I got to see lots of boobies...and unfortunately my 4 year old did too.

I learned that Shane will stick to San Diego shows and skip Irvine...In the lawn area, he almost got trampled on by several drunken idiots all throughout the show, my wife got at least 2 beers spilt on her...and there were more people up on the lawn for the party than for the show...If you want to talk throughout the whole show---stay in the parking lot!!...and the parking lot............................................now I know why the Irvine police act like they do....and the trash after the show......there may be no tailgating in the near future if this continues....I saw people flipping off the cops---throwing beer bottles purposely on the ground for the fun of beaking them....and stealing property (sorry Crabman)...

That's enough of the negative...the actual show was a great one...Jimmy was so into it...and the energy of the crowd was awesome...and the Angels win to top it off.....it was truly an experience and I was glad to be a part of it....

:D :D :D

My wife and I just joined the OCPHC we're looking forward to lots of phlockings and phun this year!

Yes.....What a huge party! Just too many kids there who aren't there for the show, the music means nothing to these guys.
After arriving at my terrace seat, I missed several songs due to some drunk chick arguing with the guy next to me over God knows what. Once that subsided, I realize the guy is now urinating right there where he is standing, so I went up to the lawn at that point.
I'm just mad at myself for accepting so many generous offers of tequila.
Still, it was an awsome show.
Did anyone see the guy who brought 3 Chimpanzees to the parkinglot? I saw the police and animal control hauling him off.

I do have to agree that there were a lot of the 20 to 27 age group looking like they were going to see a Grunge band and partying like they just discovered a new arm. I saw many, many people that were there for the party only (they had no tickets and no inclination to get tickets).......The parting lot after was a sad sight.......The parking Nazi's could have saved themselves a lot of hassel if they would just keep the flow of traffic moving....part of the problem was that RV's were being charged $40 to park......many balked and or argued with the parking attendents. Too often I could see one flashlight waver telling a driver to go left and another flashlight waver to go right.....overall the lot action was very much alive.....I believe that the volume of the party was inhanced by the Angels beating the Yankees......the closer that game came to ending....the crazier it got.....and once the final out was made......its like the cork on that place blew open.....As I recall from my history books.....Pirates love debauchery!
I'll be back!

Five shows this year (Vegas-2 San Diego-1 Irvine-2) and each was better than the last one. I missed my fav Savannah fare you well on Sat but Tampico Trauma (76) was a great replacement. Irvine is great for sound quality, but I like the Chula Vista lot better. SDPirate 40 has a hot car. How many driving back to San Diego stopped at the In/n/Out on the way back? SITC when does OTL practice start?

well, i will add my 5 shows, the same as capt gary's list and will add a question. if irvine decides to not allow or gets to the point of not allowing
tailgating in the future because of the mess, how many would volunteer to help clean up? possibly the next day. i think i would.
has the local parrothead club thought about such a situation?

"my whole world lies behind door #3"

btw: i met pirate 40 and friend also, nice friendly guy. capt gary i am sorry i did not meet you and the others. you guys look like you know how to partay!!!!!!!!!

and...one young cop got hit in the back with a flying tortilla and was ready to go after who ever he could grab. i was going to tell him not to take it personally, but he walked away grumbling........

phinz up

oops....

on furthur review my list of venues is not the same. actually shoreline in mountain view for me as well as san diego/chula vista , irvine on sat, and
both shows in vegas.

Flour or corn? Our isle was the tortilla battle zone, Isle 3. The flour flew a lot better, the corn fell apart too easy.

Some of the Tortilla tossers were right next to me......where were you CB? I was very close to the light pole #3.

Um, did I say 3? I meant 4  , We had the putting green with the Tike Bar, a white Chevy truck and had the Angel game on the TV in the bed.
