My guess is that the door is open for Fingers to rejoin the band. We can only hope he walks through it!

I had a chance to talk with Fingers in Key West at MOTM and also saw him play in Irvine last November. I think something happened between them to cause this problem. The official word is that Jimmy put his foot down and would not let family go on the Tour a few years ago. Fingers and Mac didnt continue the tour but a little while later Mac was back but Fingers wasnt. Fingers was great to talk to, told me a few stories about him and Jimmy back in the early 70's. Any talk of him going back to the Reefers was met with "I'm doing other things now". Interesting that the producer of Fingers new blues album, ex Thunderbird, I think is "dating" Fingers hot ex-wife...

Very little fact but a lot of fiction in that.

Accountants made the decision not to PAY for families to tour with the band. The band only goes out for two week stints, half of which is spent in a hotel room. Between flights from home, charter jets between venues, and the best hotels, you do that math.

And that wasn't the issue between Jimmy and Fingers. Fingers knows full well what it was - I'm sure his reluctance to accept responsibility for his departure is a huge part of why that door is closed.

The "Official Word" is what the public was told a few years ago, I think 2000. There were several places I read that Jimmy didnt want families on tour and that what was told. I really believe something happened between them, but dont know exactly what.

I'll second that motion! Fingers is a great musician, but John Popper can only be classified as phenomonal!
