Anyway, all is working perfectly now. I gave it a test record on RM. 2 minutes and 52 seconds of recording used up 2.63 MB of space (recorded as MP3). Will this still be too much to fit a whole concert onto a CD? I plan on recording the show tonight, and would like to be able to make a CD of it. Again, thanks to all who've helped me with my lack of computer intelligence.
I know its a little late to help ya, but an average Buffett Show for me is usually between 175 and 300 MB (depending upon settings, length of show) So it will definately fit onto a CD. BUT, if you are gonna burn it onto a cd anyway, record it as WAV, and then burn it that way. Since the RM stream is already compressed, compressing it again to MP3 can cause it to lose range and stuff. You may not notice it, but the difference is there. If you have the space and the extra cd, record to wav and then burn the wav. If not, MP3 will work just fine. However, I would then not trade that show. You may tell that it is MP3 sourced, but a generation or two down the line the trader may not say as much.
Just my two cents.

I can't figure out how to get totalrecorder to split up 1 set into tracks. could someone please explain?
thanks.

Just my two cents... I take advantage of total recorders pre-recorder feature, set mine to 30 seconds. This enables me to hit stop between songs, save the previous song off to a file and hit record again within 30 seconds and not lose any music. I know it takes away a little from the enjoyment of the show, but when the show is over, I am emmediately ready to burn the show to disc(s). I set up a folder for the first and second sets on my hard drive before the show starts and then I will save my files as 01-great heart, 02-Knees of my heart, etc. so they are ready to go in order to burn on CD. I can usually complete my typing and saving during the first 10 or 15 seconds of pre-recording so I have plenty of time left to hit the record button. And once you have listened to enough shows, you get pretty good at predicting when the band is going to start a song (usually roger guth ticking his sticks) so you can get the start of the song right. and if I do happen to miss an intro badly I can just go into an editor such as soundforge and fix it. Like I said, just my two cents.
