The "Official" Vegas thread- Is it too early?

Post by Tagriffith »

With so many posts going on I figured I'd start the "official" thread to talk about all things Vegas!

We're bringing a crew of 10 from Los Angeles and staying at the Key Largo. Can't wait for the fun to begin!

It's never too early to plan for VEGAS! We'll be at the Key Largo too with about 10 of us as well. Stop on by for some margaritas, just listen for the room with the gas powered blender pumping. We should be on the ground floor by the pool. Can't wait for the pool party.

I have stayed at the Key Largo the last 3 years. Almost didn't make the reservations this year. They said they only had 10 left on Monday when I called. It is a great time at the Key Largo, I met a lot of Parrotheads from everywhere. I usually go there with a pretty good sized group, this year everyone dogged us, so it will just be me and the wife. I will be heading over to Tommy Rockers on Friday. I have heard that they have plans to fix a lot of the problems that we experienced last year. I guess no one knows what will happen at the MGM yet, they have torn down the amusement park where they usually have the party so they could build a condo highrise.

The pre party has to be somewhere!!! I'm sure MGM will do something...too much money to lose if they don't. I'm flying in on Saturday morning at 10 so I'm gonna have to miss Tommy Rockers. I'll head straight to the Key Largo for some fun!

Anyone know what will happen now at the MGM???

The parks torn down now? Wow, I know they've been talking about it for a long time. Bummer, that was such a blast. I'm sure the MGM has something in the works...I hope. :-?

MGM has soo much room even w/o the park they could manage something...they could even turn their huge parking lot next to the parking deck into a party scene...I agree with the previous posts that MGM won't miss out on the chance to sell as many $7 coronas as possilbe...still waiting to hear ticket prices, but my cable modem is all warmed up for this weekend...

I forgot about that big parking lot, that would work. They won't want to lose all that business to other hotels in the area.

I remember last year someone on this board had a hook up at the MGM and got some early info on the pre party. Hopefully they will come thru!

I had a blast there last year and was actually able to bring in my own beers so I didn't have to partake of the $7 dollar coronas...only the $7 dollar cheeseburgers. I walked right in with my cooler in hand. They only stopped me to give me a necklace! :wench:

I will be there, Staying at Key Largo, arriving Friday morning - leaving early Monday morning. But take it from someone who went last year, AVOID Tommy Rockers like the Plauge it's to far away, long line to get in the main door, then a long line to get the the "Parrothead" party, lines for the 'free' cheesburger and at the bar I could go on but you get the picture.... very unorginized and I even bought my Tommy Rockers tickets 2 months in advance! They may say the mess of last year won't happen again but I am only in Vegas a few days I don't want to waste a night there taking a chance. Put it this way, for all you Tampa people Tommy Rockers is the anti-Newks! I say go where NYCPORT is going, he hasn't missed yet! From what I hear Key Largo is the place to be the night before the show!

Key Largo is great, you've got the live music at the Sandbar bar, cheap drinks and just a real kick back style hotel. I also had no problem with bringing in extra drinks to the pre-party at MGM. I think the part that sucked more than the $$$ food and drink was those damn tickets you had to use. Of course we really didn't need too many more after the party at the Key Largo pool earlier that day.

My fiance and I are coming from MI and are staying at MGM from Fri-Tues. We need some people to party with. So, if anyone knows of a party, we'd love to come and join.

Viva Las Vegas!

Question:

What is the best way to bring your own alcohol? Are there places around to buy liquor and beer? I don't know if you can take unopened stuff on plane.

Any suggestions, let me know.... :P

You can buy booze cheap at liquor stores all along the strip..just don't buy from the stores inside any of the hotels. Huge rip-off!

No, this REALLY happened I pretty sure. A few years ago this dealer at Key largo is dressed up as Elvis. Belt buckle, white jumpsuit and everything. Every year I try to play against Elvis (I think that's a nickname, I forget his real name) I win every time against Elvis and have a great time. He can't hear very well, makes mistakes and pays you when you lose (he doesn't try, he's just a little slow). He doesnt wear the jumpsuit anymore for some reason but he still deals as of last year at the largo. Just another reason I LOVE VEGAS BABY. Nine weeks
