As for covers, I'm just gald he has good taste in music. Also, if you read DSTC and then listen to the album, I think you will realize that he is an even more brilliant and creative songwriter than you previously thought. My guess is that he could write a new album in a day or two, but just doesn't want to.
Nobody can write an album in a day or two - not a good one anyway.

I'll revise: My guess is that he could generate a new album of all new material written solely by him in less than a day, because he has tons of songs that have been recorded but not released.

I'm sure he's got albums worth of unrealesed material. A lot of artists do.

Yeah, and Jim Croce wrote most of his first big album in a day, but in both cases those were people at the peak of their abilities. And in both situations, I would imagine that the "writing" was more a gathering of loose ends - previously bits of lyrics, themes, and melodies that hadn't attached themselves to something else.

Most songwriters would be happy to have one really solid song written in a day.

You may be in luck Changing Channels. The upcoming tour is to promote the new CD which is mostly remakes of a lot of his early music with several new covers. We were lucky enough to see him last month and I was thrilled to hear so much of the old stuff played. Pascagoula Run rocked. But I'm biased - I've got a son stationed there and we wasted away last Sunday at Huck's Cove. I'm looking forward to Tiki Time for even more of the same. And I agree he has enough of his own music to fill up several concert setlists. It's a mystery to me why he does the covers other than he really enjoys the songs and the artists who wrote them. I've got to say I prefer his version of Southern Cross although the original by CS&Y is awesome. The band's cover of Sail On Sailor is great and fits their style and I feel it's a tribute to Brian Wilson and the Boys to re-introduce this fine song. It would be great to see a concert of nothing but the first 3 LP's. Hope you all make a show on the upcoming tour!

Sorry, make that CS&N. I was just wishing Y would get back with the band. By the way, CS&N are appearing at Jazzfest this year.

Makin' Music for Money?? Please!

Jimmy forgot his roots. Covering Alex Harvey's MUSIC FOR MONEY? I want to go back to those days and hear them.

The fact is since OFF TO SEE THE LIZARD, Jimmy has TRUTHFULLY only wrote a couple of songs. He even stole credit for a couple of songs that certain Reefers wrote.

Also a fact, if it's not about money any more--explain the p*** poor pay he gives to the Coral Reefers who MADE him what he is TODAY!

It's all about bucks for Jimmy. I want to go back to the A1A days! Come back old Jimmy. Remember the music and forget the mega-bucks.

I agree with phins....wait till it hits the streets. How can you possibly be critical of something you haven" even heard yet.But I must say...this better no be a copulation of all his other stuff which has been recorded over and over again and sold as his best hits
