What a great ride Jimmy gave us tonight.
And it was made all the better because our girl CRC (hereafter known as the Hula Goddess) made it on stage with Jimmy. She looked fabulous!
Goodbye, Jimmy. Until next yer.

Buffett rolls out the oldies with aplomb and style
By Dave Ferman
Star-Telegram Pop Music Critic
DALLAS -Jimmy Buffett's shows don't change that much from year to year -- and they don't have to.
Jimmy and his Coral Reefer Band show up. His loyal fans, the Parrotheads, show up. Everybody sings along to a bunch of old favorites about growing older but not up, sandy beaches, sunny days and good times.
Beach balls, Hawaiian shirts, leis and grass skirts are everywhere. There is mucho drinking. Actually, there is mucho drinking cubed. And that's just in the parking lot. People relive their youth -- or the youth they wish they'd had -- and go home happy, whether they remember anything the next day or not.
So it was Tuesday night at a packed Smirnoff Music Centre. It has long been a given that Buffett is going to sing Coconut Telegraph, Pencil Thin Mustache, Come Monday, Margaritaville, Grapefruit/Juicy Fruit and so on. But give him credit: The old boy still knocks out the hits. And his band (now 11 members, plus two female singers, the Reeferettes) can be note-perfect when necessary, and more than a little loose when it's time for that.
Buffett, who arrived barefoot and bareheaded in a yellow shirt and green and white shorts, continues to work the crowd well. Last night he threw in little asides about the Foo Fighters' show at the nearby Fair Park Coliseum and the NBA Finals. As always, he acted like the genial -- but just a little naughty and grizzled -- uncle who throws the perfect kegger.
This year's show -- part of what he calls the Tiki Time Tour -- was a bit better than a few of his past Dallas outings. He trotted out a couple of worthy older songs that aren't huge faves, including Honey Do and Burn That Bridge When We Come to It.
In keeping with the tour's theme, he added a couple of nicely silly touches, among them two enormous tiki gods. Think Easter Island statues with attitude. They jawed with Jimmy -- one requested Come Monday, and he obliged -- and during another song, their eyes glowed red, smoke shot out of their ears and mouths, and they sang along. Which means they were better than the Angus Young statue on AC/DC's last tour.
But when you've heard Margaritaville for the 4,000th time, it's the little things that count. Buffett, more often than not, gets them right. For all his millions, and the fact that he could stick his toes in the sand and never work another day in his life, he still puts on a far better, and longer, show than he has to. Beneath the party-hearty exterior, the guy has a work ethic.

CONGRATULATIONS CRC!!!!!!!
Sorry we didn't hook up with y'all in the parking lot yesterday. Talking to CRC you must have been in a different lot. We were right by the Starplex entrance at Fitzugh/Exposition and our crew had a blast. The video crew came by a couple of times and we had some time on the big screen during the show. With CRC being onstage we BNers had quite a presence in Dallas last night.
Here are some pictures of us and the boat yesterday.

To those who "did Dallas":
I've lost my camera. If ya'll could check your stuff to see if it's there, I sure would appreciate it....the last time I can remember seeing it was on the card table outside the RV.
It's a small digital HP....silver....about palm size....black hand strap.
Thanks. Sure do appreciate it.

Thanks for posting the photos. I really enjoyed seeing BN'ers having a grand time.
We showed up around 4:30 and walked around and gaped at all the Buffett fun. I didn't recognize anyone, so we got on in around 6:30 and got our lawn spots. It was a mess. Unlike Houston, they were way crowded on the lawn.
I did go down for the hula contest and saw CRC meet the challenge on the small stage and make it to the BIG stage.
The hula contest was so much fun and I didn't even know Tina!
Tina, you were great on stage...so beautiful!
Again, thanks for sharing the photos. Maybe next year we shall meet! Until then, I will continue to lurk and listen to concerts here!
It was good to be able to get a copy of the Dallas show already! It was a good one eventhough, I hate to say it, it is the first concert I left early! There was just too much going on on the lawn for this old timer!

Hey fellow Dallas parrotheads! I to was at the show last Tuesday and thought it was the best in the last 5 years! Any suggestion on how to get any songs from the show (or the whole concert??) I tried posting on the Concert trading forum to no response. Does anyone have Dallas recorded they'd like to trade???

Congrats CRC! You made your fellow Oklahomans proud! Sorry I never made it over to party with you guys Tuesday. I was wasted away in Margaritaville just a little too soon! I have a faint memory of finally wandering over to the BN headquarters late that afternoon. I did get to meet a few people which was great!!
Whew! It's Saturday and I'm just now getting over my hangover!
Once I figure out how to put my digital pictures on our web site I'll post the link.

I was at the Dallas show and man was it a great show! I was lucky enough to catch one of the two wristbands that Jimmy was wearing and threw out into the crowd at the end of the show.
I would appreciate anyone posting photos of Jimmy during the concert if they have any. I will post my pics when I get them scanned. See ya next year!
