as i am sure you are aware, margaritaville and come monday get most of the play when radio does play buffett. to get anything else, you have to nag....nag...nag.......and even then it don't always work.
and since we are on that subject, if you listen to radio margaritaville, then you know that on sundays, they play a show titled world music hour, that originates on kfog in san francisco. the hostess is roselie howarth. even thought rm carries her show, roselie does not make a practice of playing any buffett music. she did play a version of gulf coast hiway a few months ago. it was sung by nancy griffith and somebody else.

Last night, while I was driving home, Tampa's 107.3 The Bay played Floridays.

That station's format is the 60's, 70's and 80's -- so they'll play Buffett pretty regularly.

More times than not, however, I'm my own station manager and I'll put in a CD of the music I want to hear and not even bother with the radio.

I used to hear "Fruitcakes" on the radio from time to time when it was first released.

Why is it that when a Buffett song comes on the radio, I get all giddy (word for the day) and crank it way up, and sing along, like I'll never have another opportunity to hear it again?

After all, I have just about every song he ever recorded at my fingertips in the car.

Is this true for other PHs also?

I know this is true for me! I guess it's because it's such a rare occurrence. But any time I hear Jimmy, no matter what the situation, it makes me happy, even if I can listen to any of his songs any time I want to.

On those rare occasions when I hear a Buffett song on the radio I also crank it up. Recently Cheeseburger has been played on a local station. It's like an unexpected gift

A great place for Buffett music is a free online radio site called live365.com
There is a station there called boat drinks that plays almost everything Buffett. The ocasional Beach Boys or Bob Marley song is played just to give it a bit of diversity. I suggest that everyone check it out.

Did you ever miss your floor to hear the end of Come Monday on the elevator?

I know Southern Cross was released as a single off of T,T&S, only because I bought the release CD at a used CD store.

Not only does this happen to me also...it even happens when Steve
plays him on RM, which is Jimmy's radio station and where it's not
exactly unexpected to hear him :-)

Radio plays

Hi Guys, can you imagine what it is like for us Brits when we hear Jimmy on the radio. Does not happen often, but yes I get giddy as well, even though I have every CD, single and cassette ever made. It just makes my day :D

Who wants to hear an obscure Jimmy Buffett song on the radio sighting story??? Say that ten times fast... :-?

Anyway, the first time I went to Key West was back in May of 96'. It was right around the time I started groovin' on JB. While we were drivin' back to Miami we heard this song on the radio that I knew had to be a Jimmy Buffett tune. It was a little ditty called "Smart Woman in a Real Short Skirt". It wasn't till like 2000 that I heard it again and my suspicions were confirmed. Flash-backs are fun!!! :P

I not only have Bubba at my fingertips, I went and bought a 10 disk CD changer for my work vehicle and filled it with you know who. Also there was an earlier news thread about RM being broadcast on XM radio. Would have to subscribe to that ( its only money and you can't take it with you ).

I heard "I Will Play For Gumbo" once on the radio and people doing acousic covers of Buffett but other than that not much except "Margaritiville" and "Come Monday"

Once, when WPLJ in New York played Cheeseburger In Paradise on their Friday drive home show, I almost drove off the road. That was then and now I just stick to the cd's.

When y'all get down here to South Texas listen to KBSO-FM 94.7, which plays Texas musicians and a good amount of Buffett. It is not shocking to hear him while changing channels anymore.

I'm hoping that as the April 19 concert gets closer they will play more Buffett here, because they usually do that around concert time for other artists.
