A live version of 'We Are The People' would have been nice. I love the live version. A studio version of Southern Cross would have been nice too. And a live DVD would be nice as well. At any rate, I will still by it because of the new stuff. I just hope he does Cowboy In The Jungle on the next tour, and since it is the Tiki Time Tour, that he includes Altered Boy as well.

Eh, I have no desire to even try to find an illegal copy of this one. I already have those songs on other cds. And if I want them all on one cd, well I will just burn a copy. Half of the album is sykbh. This would be better if it was a dvd audio with concert footage, videos and etc. Looks to me like this is a man on cruise control.

Now that we have cd burners, I am sure we have all made just about this same cd. I know that i have came real close. Still, we got to give Senor Jimmy the $$$ to buy a new plane or boat or take an adventure so that he can be inspired to bring us some more new stuff, oh wait is'nt that what my $200 ticket price for Vegas did??

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I am happy Bubba is coming out with a new CD whether it's old stuff, new stuff, rehashed stuff or forgotten stuff.....it's JB. As long as he puts out CDs there will be concerts, there will be pre-concert parties, there will be tears during Pirate Looks at Forty and there will be new keets born on a daily basis. In my opinion.....LONG LIVE JIMMY BUFFETT!

Disappointed, but still buying it.

I would have loved some rare gems you can only hear on Radio Margaritaville, like during the Buffett Buffet. For example:

Purple People Eater - the song that was intended for the soundtrack to "Contact," but never made it

Turning Around - From the movie "Summer Rental," impossible to find the soundtrack on CD

Please Take Your Drunken 15-Yr Old Girlfriend Home - Who wouldn't want this beauty

As I opened with, I'm disappointed, but I'll still be buying it. It does have a couple of new songs and a few alternate versions, so in the collection it will go.

Since this is essentially an MCA release (who Jimmy is not contractually obligated too), my sense is that Jimmy is trying to make the best out of a bad situation. The fact is that MCA could have releases all old songs and there's nothing Jimmy can do about it. Be grateful that Jimmy actually worked WITH MCA to add some new versions of old songs.

My sense is he did that for us - rather than let MCA spit out ANOTHER greatest hits collection, he at least gave us something fresh.

I can't wait to see the final track listing. I'd love to hear a live version of "Carnvial World" on there. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Do you all think that the all of the alternate versions will make this album worth buying, despite everything that has been rehashed again (and again?)

"New" Album Rip Off

Post by MGRTAVL »

Am I the only one who is feeling ripped off by this "new" album? How many times will Jimmy re-hash songs like Margaritaville, Cheeseburger, Parents, CILCIA, etc. Puh-leeze.

He puts a couple of "new" songs on, along with a few live versions of songs, and calls it an album. If you ask me, he's got a lot of nerve asking his public to buy this piece of garbage...and as a two-disc set, it will bring top dollar $20 and up.

Now I love JB as much as anyone else, I see him as many times as I can, I shell out hard-earned cash to support him, but damn it, I expect him to put forth his best effort. This is clearly a means to release another album and keep the money rolling in.

All I'm asking for his that he do his part. I'd rather he never release another new album than release recycled songs. It's insulting.

Honestly, between the scaled down tours, the same old set lists from concert to concert, the "Cheeseburger" and "Margaritaville" restaraunts, the tequila and now frozen shrimp...jesus christ. Gimme a break.

I can't believe "The Tiki Bar is Open" is not on either of these CD's....I thought for sure that this song would resurface this year based upon the name of the tour. Anyone know if there is a story about this song? Was John Hiatt upset with Jimmy covering it? It just seems funny to me that it was used every tour last year for the first few months and than completely disappeared. I thought it made sense when I heard the name of the tour...and thought it was shelved to come back featured this year on the album and the tour. Now I'm puzzled.....and really disappointed....I really liked that song!

No! Jimmy is just having trouble figuring out what cover song he wants to pay for next and release on "his" album!!! What happened to Jimmy Buffett music!! I'll quote Jimmy from a Harvest Moon concert "...no I think I'll play some Jimmy Buffett songs instead." Well Jimmy, Where the hell are they?"
