Something like he saw some people he knew so he beeped his horn at them, the police said that was "disturbing the peace" tried to get him to open up his trunk, he refussed, so they slapped him with a few fines. He of course had all the fines against him dropped, but waht a major pain in the ass!

Anyway, that last time I was at Merriweather, we pre-made our margaritas at home and puth them into Surge and Mt Dew bottles before we left, So if you looked into my cooler you wouldn't have seen anything but sodas ..... How can you get in any kind of trouble drinking a good 'ol refreshing Mt Dew???

Either way sounds like they are really a P.I.T.A

I have no intentions of tailgating there this year. I live 5 minutes away and we are partying there and then parking at the mall. I am not even going to deal with the Howard County cops. Saving it all up for the phlocking at Nissan

DH and I will be staying at the Sheraton - which I understand is in walking distance of the Merriweather. We somehow managed to get a good rate on a room - thought I've seen them now in the $250/night range. Is there going to be a party there??? If none is currently organized, does anyone want to start one!!! This is our second JB concert, last year being at the Tweeter in Camden. I am getting so bummed hearing all of the bad news about MPP - namely the non-parking-lot-partyability!

Well, I'd love to hear from anyone who wants to party at the Sheraton, or if there is anywhere else we can go and join a party!

There is a shopping mall right next to Merriweather and nearly as many people tailgate around merriweather that actually tailgate in the parking lot.

Don't mean to disagree with you PHISHEAD but being a denizen of HoCo I must clarify the situation you describe:

Howard County police USED TO BE cool at Jimmy Buffett concerts, until the riot in the parking lot a fews years back, and then they clamped down. A few police were actually injured on one occasion. It's never been the same there since. . .for any act, especially Buffett.

This year's show at MMP will be my first Buffett show ever!! I am so excited but this non tailgating this is really bothering me. I've been to a lot of Dave Matthews shows, and the tailgating has been great. I did see a show last year at Virginia Beach, and the cops wouldnt allow drinking or grills in the parking lot. It kinda put a damper on the fun - until we saw Dave of course, but I would never see a show there again. I dont NEED to tailgate, but I think its part of the whole experience.

Now I hear that MMP is that way too?! I live in Columbia, about 10 min away from MMP, but I dont want to tailgate in my front lawn, and then drive with my friends to the parking lot only to sober up for a few hours before the show...

Help!

The mall is right across the street from MMP, but I cant see mall security letting people set up grills, and sit around in lawn chairs...

I haven't actually ever made the drive to the Harbor since I've lived out this way but I do know that I'm only 5 miles south of 695 (Baltimore Beltway), Bowie is 10/15 mins south of me on route 3, so I would have to say about 30-40 mins.

I'm with a crew who will also be staying at the Sheraton in Columbia. I'm hoping for some good Sheraton parking lot tailgating and a hostile takeover of the Sheraton Phool

Okay guys - forgive me if it's in here some place and I just didn't catch it, but it's been a long day at work.

I am heading east from Vegas where we just had an awesome Buffett weekend. Will be hitting the Merriweather AND Nissan shows. I thought I heard that there was some great pre-party at a hotel right down the street from Merriweather???? Is that the Holiday Inn I saw reference to? I know that the Washington Area PH's are having a big shin-dig at the Sheraton on friday before AND after the Potomac PH cruise, AND before the Nissan concert. Please fill me in on the Merriweather pre-party festivities. If the cops are stinky about parking lot parties, maybe someone ought to bribe them with something!

We have a few folks coming from Jersey, Canada, and myself from Vegas. Should be a great time! I know I can't wait! By the way - anyone got any tickets????? That's the one thing we don't have yet, but figured we'd be able to get some lawn seats at one of the pre-parties or in the parking lot. What do you think?

Ok, here is the scoop from my PHC .....

The Ocean City PHC & the Chesapeake PHC is having a tailgate at the Ramada called the Beach meets the Bay. Looks pretty good and anyone is welcomed to join in the fun.
