Me an 10 at least 7 of our closest friends. We are very excited that Bubba decided to play Merriweather after a 3-year absence. Especially since we moved right around the corner last year to the Laurel/Columbia area. It's going to make for a great meeting place and prime-up before heading to the parking lot.

However, I am disappointed to hear that this is Merriweather's last year. I've seen quite a few shows at this venue over the last ten years. It doesn't surprise me though. Ever since they built that damn Nissan Pavilion out in nowhere-land they've made it hard for major acts to want to play the smaller Merriweather (economies of scale and all).

Jimmy, if you do watch this board, please play a tribute to all the fun years you've played this venue and send Merriweather Post Pavilion out in style!

I have a very special place in my heart for Merriweather, it was the very first place I ever saw Jimmy at ...... I'm very happy he decided to play there again this year! The Parrottheads will send the place off in style! 8)

With Merriweather closing it will leave all of us Marylanders scrambling for either Nissan or Camden ......

I can't wait to see yall there!!! :D

I have 12 of us going to the show this year from Delaware and Pa. 8 of them have never been to a show. I hear that there is no drinking in the parking lot. What is up with that  Where does everyone go to tailgate Buffett style??

Not sure what the rules will be this year :-?

In '99 and 2000 they didn't open the parking lot until 3, and there were stick rules about drinking (you weren't allowed too). I hope this year will be different, if not I'm sure us locals can find a good place for a pre- concert party 8)

Cakes, since he hasn't played here in a few years nobody can be certain what it's going to be like. The last time he did play here the gestapo was fairly tight, but not to the point of frustration. The parking lot didn't open till about 3:30pm (we were about the 30th car in the gate). The police came around early and told everyone to "be in control of themselves," and they patrolled the lot quite heavily. However, they gave as no qualms about our consumption of beverages in discreet plastic cups, nor did they have a problem with our portable grill. As the parking lot filled, their patrol of our area became less and less frequent. The only instance of enforcement we saw was some underagers getting busted for drinking down the row from us. We still had a good time, not a GREAT time, but good.

Mismagic, we'll be able to fondly remember the days of four concerts in the D.C. area, two at Nissan and two at Merriweather. Boy, those were the days! Merriweather was my first Bubba show too. I believe it was the Banana Wind tour of '95 or '96 (can't quite remember).

Me too, me too ..... Banana Wind was my first too 8)

And I remember when he did Merriweather Fri, Sat & Sun. I would be at all 3 shows if I had tixs or not

Thanks for the feedback. We always go to Camden NJ and went to NC last year so we are use to the "true" style of tailgating. Can anyone recommend a place close to Merryweath for us to get a few rooms? Under a few miles would be wonderful of course

AAaaahhh, Merriweather. The site of my first Buffett concert (and Buffett sighting, in Clyde's afterwards -- I spoke briefly to Timmy B. Schmidt and got Josh Leo's autograph that night). But that's ancient history.

This is my first time on the lawn for a Buffett show in many a year. (I've either been lucky enough to get pavilion or unlucky enough to get shut out.)

I didn't realize this would be a grand finale for Merriweather. I'll try to do it up right. And given Jimmy's affection for the fans who come to see him here in Columbia, I hope he'll do it up right too.

I will be going there. Looking for a pre-concert party though. Merriweather is not very phriendly to the phlock when it comes to tailgating. People have been known to tailgate in the parking lot of the Hilton down the road.

We are also looking for a place to party before Merriweather too. We don't know the area though.

Merriweather is in a highly populated area and all concerts have to be over by a certain time. The police are really tight in that area anyway. Which I really appreciate normally, but it hurts the tailgating. Not that the police hurt the tailgating I think it's the underage pholks who are not responsible which causes the crack downs. Then again, there's always Nissan on Sat. Now that's a whole different story :D

I don't think we will have any problems finding a place to have a GREAT tailgate .....

I'm not letting anything stand in the way of making the last JB show at Merriweather fun and memorable. Besides Merriweather and Nissan are between my birthday 8)

Ok I need help!!! I need to find a place to stay that is very close to the Merriweather. I checked and the Hilton is booked and the Sheraton is $259.00 a night :o Um I don't think so! Looking for some place that is clean and where we can get about 4 rooms. Oh and I forgot to mention, somewhere that will also allow us to tailgate in their parking lot 8)
