What advice does anyone have for a 1st time ticket buyer (next year)

Specifically;

when are the tour dates usually announced,
in conjunction with above when do tix go on sale for the announced dates?

i tried to get indy tix from ohio and it didnt come up on the computers either not sure why but i never got tix to that show!
