US Army Capt Ready for Summer with Buffett

Post by phjim »

The Associated Press has an article on US Army Captain Chris Carter and how he lead his troop to Baghdad: For one infantry officer, war is a test of courage, endurance - and simple decency

Killing time in the desert as hundreds of armored vehicles passed, Carter mused about how he would spend the summer. An avid Jimmy Buffet fan, he has been known to fill the back of his Chevy pickup with sand and a wading pool for pre-concert tailgate parties. Now, his girlfriend, Amanda Cofer, had met one of Buffet's attorneys and had been promised backstage passes. Chris Carter was going to MEET Jimmy Buffett!

It's great seeing service members who are Parrotheads! I'm a former Marine Captain, and I remember my bunkmate at OCS singing "Cheeseburger In Paradise" in 1978, and I asked him what he was singing! That got me started! Most of my early Buffett albums were bought in PX's from Okinawa to San Diego to Camp Lejeune! I saw my first Buffett concert in San Diego in 1982.
I hope everyone hoists a boatdrink to this Patriotic Parrothead! I just did!
