This is NOT Cuervo's fault! In fact the only reason she won is the fact that he had nothing to do with it!!! :D

Holy Freaking Hula!! :o

Thanks for that clip Uncle Jim!! I didn't remember him saying my name 4 times! :o WOW!! :o

I am still in shock. Yes PHAW, it was quite a day for me. :D Here is the whole hula story for those of you that have not already heard it:

The original plan was to spend some time with ETP fixing up my make-up and hair before the contest was to begin at 6:45pm... well I got a little sidetracked by a certain surprise visitor and started thinking I didn't even want to 'bother' with entering a hula contest. ETP talked me into at least trying my outfit on. I tried it on and then everybody convinced me that I had to enter or they were going to kick my butt big time. So I left all the tailgaters and stroll up to the Plaza Stage. Started to get a little nervous. Because you know me, I'm kinda shy! Then I see my old buddy T.C. Mitchell standing right over by the t-shirt booth surveying the situation. I walk over to him just as he is turning to head back backstage so I said "T.C!" And he turns around and looks at me kinda funny. And I said, "What dude? Did you think you could come out here to check out all these crazy Parrotheads and not be recognized?" And he said, "Yeah, kinda!" And I said, "Well, maybe you don't remember me but my name is Christina and I met you at the Margaritaville in Orlando." And he goes, "Oh yeah, we sat and talked with you guys after the show there! I remember you!" We chatted for a minute and I told him I was about to be winning the hula contest, so I said I'll see ya backstage a little later! He laughed and wished me good luck. So it's about time for the contest to start so they ask all the people who want to enter to come up towards the stage and dance. The band plays 2 songs and you do your hula~ing and then they pick 3 finalists to come up on the Plaza Stage and dance and then the crowd picks the winner. So at this point I think well crap!! I didn't know (OK, maybe I did know but I freaking forgot!! It was a CRAZY day!!) the crowd was picking the winners!! I got 30 crazy, loud, drunk people still out in the parking lot!!!! And only about 5 hard core hula supporters that I could see in the crowd. Oh well!! I'll give it my best shot! So we all dance for 2 songs during which I saw the dude that won the hokey-pokey contest in Dallas last year. This cute little kid standing next to me pulls on my sarong and I look down and she says, "You're good!" I thanked the little sweetie and told her she was a good hula~er too!! Then some dude on stilts comes and taps me on the shoulder and tells me to go over to the side of the stage. I go over there and there is one girl there already and she says, "Like, oh my GOD!! I totally think we are finalists!" I was like no way dude. I think they must be tapping the people that they want out of the contest and we are soooo out. Then 2 more girls come over and the stilt dudes come over and say OK you are our finalist’s ladies c'mon up here on stage. So we all hug and jump up and down like a bunch of happy Parrotheads and we go up on stage and they introduce us by name and have us say where we are from. I was contestant number 3. Then they played 45 seconds of hula music and went through all 4 contestants one at a time and asked the crowd for applause. It was intense. So intense that we had to move to a hula~off between contestant number 3 (that would be me) and contestant number 4 (a total hottie blonde chick). So 15 more seconds of hula~ing and then the final crowds applause..... and the winner is Contestant Number 3!! CRC!! :D And I didn't think this day could get any better?????? :o So I fill out my form and the dude tells me to meet him at intermission at the side of the stage and NOT to be drunk. He repeated that again! Very important aspect of the hula contest here, they want sober people up there, not sloppy drunks! But hey, if I can do it then anyone can!!! Meanwhile, the band (Drunk Monkey's, I think???) has given me 2 sets of beads... one has little devils ( :D ) on it and the other was Curious George. Cool beads! :D Is it intermission yet??? Is it intermission yet??? I have never been so ready for the intermission of a Buffett show!!!!!!! It was a nerve racking first half of the show!! :o OK, intermission is here but I have a problem! :o One of my purple starfish has fallen off of the bra top. I need some duct tape and fast!! And on my way to the side of the backstage area in the sea of people my other starfish has come loose. :o Gotta get some duct tape quick!! The Wolf Radio station booth guys had some! Thank goodness!! So I got both starfish duct taped back on my bra. :D I head backstage and the judge that was on the stilts earlier is telling me all the while not to do anything stupid. OK yes sir! As soon as we turn the next corner, I see Ralph MacDonald and I yelled, "RALPH!!! I love ya man!! I just got off the phone with Kitty and she said to tell you hello!!" He was cracking up! I gave him a hug and told him about my starfish and the duct tape! Then we go around another corner and I see Mac. Hi Mac. Then Jon Lovell. I said hi to Jon and he had to stop and get a closer look at me before he remembered meeting me in Orlando. Then we keep walking and the judge dude is asking how I know everybody??? I said I only know Ralph, Jon, & T.C. personally!  Then here comes Jimmy Buffett and I almost died. I got so nervous I didn't even say anything. Not that he was talking to me, he just walked right by me. We go over and talk to the guitar and sound dude Doug and he gave me a Buffett guitar pick and it has a little hula dancer on one side. How cool!! I also got an autographed photo from Jimmy. Way cool! So I am sitting on a stool on the side of the stage during Cuban Crime of Passion, Tiki Bar, and Everybody's Talkin'. At one point, (obviously a no horn song) Jon came over and talked with me some more and I shared the story with him about how I told T.C. that I was gonna win. He was cracking up! And I told him I had a great picture with him from the night in Orlando. That Jon is such a nice guy! Then here come Jules and Heather. They were really nice and congratulated me and I told them about the duct tape and they were impressed, I'm sure. I can't help it folks, I was nervous and a little chatty so I was telling everybody about the duct tape! From that point on I really don't remember what happened. I think I was on stage hula~ing. But it seems like a dream. Listening to the clip (thank you Uncle Jim!!!!! ) was sooooooo cool!

OK, now that this has been the longest post ever one last word of advice to any prospective hula~ers: The costume is important!! Hula~ing is probably secondary! But attitude is everything!! And if you are thinking about entering and not really sure if you wanna, JUST DO IT!!!!! It is so worth it! :D A little good luck charm probably wouldn't hurt either!

Congrats CRC!!!!

You do a GREAT hula.

I'm so sorry I missed meeting all of you. I got to the lot at 3:30 and couldn't find the Phruitcakes flag I was looking for. Several walks thru the lot, and I couldn't find it. I did meet several other interesting characters, though. Was waaay too much fun.

I will find a way to do it at another show.

Thanks for the invites from all of you.

And another big congrats to CRC.
