Back from Vegas

Hey Everyone,
I just got home from Vegas and thought I'd check in with some thoughts. To Rasspy and all the BNer's I met, It was good to meet you. Thanks for the shots.
Meeting Doyle and TC was great and Amy Lee is the coolest. Not many "stars" would just sit around on the grass at a pool party chatting with their fans. Got to give a big phins up to those three.
The concert rocked. Jimmy looked like he was in a great mood and it showed in the concert. Closing with Lovely Cruise was cool.
Hope everyone had as good a time as I did. Now I just have to wait for Irvine and back to Vegas in January (according to Jimmy on stage).

Thanks for the review!
I was beginning to think the Vegas parties were still going on!
Partying with Reefers--how cool is that!

I was one of the first to leave the hotel. Everyone should be coming back soon.
Also, I forgot to give props to the Fiesta Brothers. They drove all the way in from So Cal to play the pool party for FREE. And they sounded great. And also Bob (can't remember his last name) stayed to play at the pool on Saturday, once again for FREE. Major phins up to them.

Vegas Concert pictures posted - A Semi-True Story

I just posted some photos taken from the SECOND ROW at the MGM (See Buffett Concert Photos - pictures #42-47)
First I need to tell you what we had to go through just to get these photos. I'll try to keep my story short...
I had won a pair of tickets to the Vegas concert on a local radio contest (trivia questions). Did I mention they were SECOND ROW SEATS!?
I had hoped I wouldn't have any problem getting my little digital camera into the concert to take a few shots because when would I ever be this close to the stage again?
After I set off the metal detector I was asked to step aside so they could use the hand held detector on me...

oh great...
So, I played dumb. Checking my right side, it goes off. Guard says "What's in your pocket?". I say "Umm, my cell phone."
Checking my left side (where the camera is), it goes off. Guard says "What's in your pocket?". I say "Umm, my other cell phone?"
"OK" she says, "I'll have to ask you to empty your pockets." Of course now there's no way out. I empty my pockets and say "Oh, I forgot... it's a camera!". They tell me I'm going to have to "check" my camera. (which is a royal pain in the ass because you have to go back to get it after the show.) I'm pleading not to have to do this. No good. So this other security guard, a elderly white haired man, says he'll escort us to the desk to check the camera. We keep trying to lose him in the crowd, acting like we don't know where we're going. We see that the turnstiles where you give them your tickets are right next to the desk. So... we decided to make a sharp left at the last second, give the nice lady our tickets. As soon as she gives us our stubs back... WE BOLT FOR THE ESCALATOR! No one followed us down the escalator so we figured we're home free.
Upon getting to the lower level, there's the white haired guard about 20 yards away from us! How the hell did he get down there so fast!?
He yells to an ARMED security guard "Get that guy! He's got a camera!!" (Jeez... you'd think we'd had a gun by the way they were acting.) The ARMED security guard runs right past us (obviously confused by all the Hawaiian shirts, not knowing WHICH guy in the Hawaiian shirt had the camera. I had taken my hat off to "blend in".)
So... we made it inside and managed to sneak off the few shots that I posted (see top of this story). The photo entitled "BUSTED!" is a classic. At least this guy just gave me a warning and didn't take my camera. The BIG guy behind him is Jimmy's head body guard, so I didn't want to push it too much!
One question... Does anyone recognize the two ladies in photo #47? (Tiki Hut Girls from Denver) They had snuck down to our seats from a few rows back while I was on another Margarita Run. We let them stay since they were so nice. They told us they were from Denver and had Tiki Hut costumes that they had worn in the contest earlier (which we saw on Parrotvision!). They also told their names... but... there had been MANY Margarita Runs that night...
Well... that's my (semi-true) story and I'm sticking to it!
Here's a link to the first photo

Great pictures and funny story. I can hear the guy just as he lost you... "Damn Parrotheads".
Don't know the girls, but their costumes were great. Walking Tiki bars.

Your pictures are great. So...where are the giant Tiki god's. I heard them during the Las Vegas broadcast, but don't see them on the stage. Or were they farther to the back?
Thanks for sharing.

Wow! What a weekend! It was great to finally meet some pholks and party in Vegas.

Had a great time at the San Remo with the Bach/Bachelorette party. Thanks again Jeepgirl and RWM for organizing it and helping with the hotel reservations. Just wish I'd had time to do some "recovery" with everyone on Sunday. After three shows in two weeks, I'm not gonna know what to do with myself this weekend.
Anyway, hope to see all of you again very soon. If you're ever coming through Atlanta let me know and we'll get together for some beers/margaritas. You're always welcome at our tent for the Atlanta shows, too.
Conched, the Tiki Gods were pushed way back and off to the sides from the front of the stage. They were right up front at the Atlanta and Nashville shows so I guess it's just a matter of logistics.

sounds like you had a close call dude with security. i guess i got lucky. i had my digital cam in my pocket with my flash and pipe and had no probs going through the metal detectors. i was a bit paranoid, but the security lady just waved me through. maybe she thought the alarm went off because of my corona bottle cap bra? whatever it was, i'm glad i didnt get busted.

Hey Pirate parrot - just got onto here to finally check the stuff out. So to answer your question, yes I am here....now

You'll have to fill me in on who's who with the Idaho clan. Wow - who are the twins? I mean what' their names on here. I was so embarrassed I was talking to Guy for 20 minutes thinking I was talking to Garth - not that either one remembered me from last year anyway!
