Alan Jackson / Buffett Duet

Post by Sleepless Knight »

I heard a new duet with Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson on the radio (WPUR Cat Country 107.3 in Atlantic City, NJ) this morning. The country news reporter for the morning said that the song was recorded at Shrimp Boat Studios last month and will appear on Alan Jackson's forthcoming yet unnamed Greatest Hits Album. The song is called "It's Five O'clock Somewhere" and features Alan on the lead vocals and Jimmy on back up with some hamming up at the end between them. It's a fun song (of course), maybe it might make the summer tour.

The Gainsville Sun has an article: "Alan Jackson, Jimmy Buffett Record Duet" that mentions the album by Alan Jackson is due out in late August or early September.

Alan Jackson has posted a snippet of the new song on his web site.

The country news reporter for the morning said that the song was recorded at Shrimp Boat Studios last month and will appear on Alan Jackson's forthcoming yet unnamed album. The song is called It's 5 O'clock Somewhere and features Alan on the lead vocals and Jimmy on back up with some hamming up at the end between them. It's a fun song (of course), maybe it might make the summer tour. I haven't found an MP3 of it yet, but I'm still looking...

And I've learned much from both of their styles.

I had the local country radio station on (y108) and I was liking the new alan Jackson song. (turned it on half way through) When Jimmy jumped in at the end I was floored. This will be a hit song!

they did team up for that 'Ass and the hole in the ground song.' they sound pretty good together, I listen to a bit of country, I'll have to pay attention I guess.
Portland radio is pretty set with their 5 songs an hour list though
just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy...

Um.... That's Jimmy and Mac McAnally who do that song together... not Jimmy and Alan Jackson.

I noticed a lot of people - even on the radio - were saying Alan and Jimmy had teamed up for "Ass & The Hole In The Ground" prior to recording this new single.

Why the confusion I asked myself? They sound nothing alike.

So, a little trip to Limewire cleared things up immediately. "Ass & The Hole In The Ground" is posted on the music swap services as Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett. HA!

That's what you get for stealing music people. Not only are the songs generally recorded hastily and at low rates, the info is often wrong!

P.S. Snippet of new song posted!!!

WOW! :o
There is no mistaking Jimmy voice! :D
Thanks for the update about Jackson's website!

Oh and I was wondering why all the confusion about who does "The Ass and a Hole"... shoulda figured it was from the same Einsteins who attribute things like "The Piña Colada Song" and "The I-95 Song" to Jimmy!

I heard the song today and thought it was funny when Alan sang "what would Jimmy Buffett do" and Jimmy chimes in with "Funny you should ask Alan"
I already got it burned from the radio and onto cd!!!!!!!!!!!!!

btw
If anyone has'nt seen the new Kenny Chesney video "No Shoes, No shirt, No problems" you should check it out.
It's shot in the islands and the song has got Jimmy Buffett written all over it!!!!

Everybody wants to be Jimmy!!!!

Didn't they also record a version of "Margaritiaville" together? I was pretty sure they did on one of Alan's albums.
