I haven't seen my OPH yet, but I have been to my Margaritaville 2 times in 2 different times of my life. When I was 12 I stayed a weekend in Laguna, Calif. and I have been carted off in my mind back there many times with the help of Jimmy's music. More recently I went to Brookings, Oregon during what they all called a "heatwave". It was 80 on the beach. I watched the sunset everyday listening to Jimmy Buffett and watching the surf with the sun setting lower and lower. During the day I had Jimmy Buffett music, a cooler full of Corona, warm sunshine and my keets running in the surf. Couldn't have been more perfect.
But I also have to agree, anytime I can have a boat drink, salt water and Jimmy Buffett music is my Margaritaville.

Cayman Islands was about as close as I have come. On second thought, it is all about escapism so everytime Bubba goes in the cd player I am transported to some other place. Magical state of mind.

8) Kind of like asking surfers to give up the secret spot isn't it? Why would anyone do that? Henley said it best: "call someplace paradise....kiss it goodbye."

Turtle Island, Fiji - a resort on its own 500-acre island. All drinks included, whenever, wherever you want 'em, including floating on a raft in the lagoon. Caters to only 14 couples at at time...and there are 14 private beaches.

Since I will likely never get back there, my other Margaritaville is BayHead, NJ. Nothing like the Jersey shore in the summer time!

Sounds wonderful! Maybe "Someday I Will."

We own timeshare near Corolla, and I grew up going to Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms (pre-Wild Dunes), but Key West is my ultimate Margaritaville. See the adjacent Key West thread. That long drive makes you feel like you're heading off the edge of the world. Then when you get there, you realize you have. The quirkiest place I know!

Montauk, Long Island. Pass right by the irritating Hamptons and leave 'em far behind. Go alll the way out until you can't go anymore. Go everywhere barefoot; putting on shoes is getting dressed up. Drink with the locals at Liar's Saloon and all is well.

Sippin' a cold Corona at ...

... The Blue Parrot, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Or for that matter anywhere where I have my toes in the sand,
and a cold beer in hand!

A lot of time that just happens to be in my tiki bar at home,
with make believe sand and palm trees. Oh yeah, and many times,
just in my car with the Buffett blasting.

Damn, the more I think about it, I spend a hell of a lot of time
in MARGARITAVILLE!

Whoop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gig'em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My OPH is Seabrook Island, SC. Sitting on the dock on the Kiawah River, watching the tide flow out. Hook in the water and a beer in my hand. I get misty-eyed just thinking about it.

Yeah. South Carolina is my little corner of Paradise. Can't wait to get back. I was born there. I want to die there.

Other than that, I really loved Jost Van Dyke, Congo Lovango, Norman Island and Sandy Cay. I have a favorite place at the Angler's Club, North Key Largo, where I could sit and watch the boats come in all day long.
