Need help with a "discussion" I had last night wit

Post by Weathergalnal »

So we were having a few drinks at the local watering hole last night and we got on to a discussion about Jimmy Buffett. The subject came up of where Jimmy actually got his "start". My friend said it was at the Florabama but I disagreed saying it was in Key West. Can someone please tell me the true place, if any, that Jimmy actually got his start? Thanks!

what does "actually got his "start". mean...
He was playing in bands way before Key west...
He was in several bands in college..
Then moved to New orleans and was in a cover band.....
His first two albums, Down to Earth, and high cumberland jubilee
were recorded in Nashville..

As far as my information goes...He started playing the guitar cause a friend of his did and he got girls because of it...He started playing for $ in New Orleans as a street performer, then in some bars there...That right?

Well according to Jimmy himself, every time he sings Volcano at a concert, he says "put me back where this all began!" The problem is he's said that at every venue! So I don't even think he remembers! :D

"Put me back where this all began" is a reference to the term Parrothead, which was coined in Ohio.

I think in this case he is refering to Cincinnati, were the name Parrothead was born... (Timothy B. Schmitt) said it to Jimmy...

Yea, I knew that, but I guess I thought I had heard him say it at venues outside of Ohio, but maybe not! Guess it was too much tequila (or not quite enough).
