Jimmy appeared on the Today Show's Summer Concert Series on Friday July 11th. Last night around 9 pm he mingled with the crowd that started gathering at Rockefeller Center and signed autographs. The rehersal / sound check was done at 6:00 am in the morning.

He played four songs:
1. The Weather is Here I wish you were Beautiful
2. Everybody's Talkin'
3. Cheeseburger in Paradise
4. Fins (not picked up by all TV stations)

UPDATE: MSNBC has four media clips from the Today Show (click on the arrow to go to the next clip). MSNBC also a good article on Parrothead and the show: "Living the life of a parrot head"

My co-miner just called while he was playing CIP. Said it was the largest crowd they've had for a summer show series. Told the story about last night. That woulda been so kewl. Alice said she saw a sign for Allentown, PA....wonder if 1026 was nearby????

Jimmy showed up at 9 pm last night to sign autographs, the coral reefers played solo then jimmy came out and played fins, cheeseburger, everybodys talkin, weather is here wish you were beautiful. They played a warm up for about 1/2 hour from 6-6:30 played some songs 2-3 times. Great crowd except for the line jumpers that arrived at 5 am and got in front of me and alot of others. I arrived at 9:00 pm when Jimmy just left. People were still shaking. The Rain wasn't bad at all except for the people in the very front (VIP section who were not even fans) that got great seats for showing up at 6 am and kept the umbrellas up in front of everyone else. see pictures posted you'll see what I am talking about. but all in all great show!!! wanted to hear it's 5 o'clock somewhere but no go! Did everyone notice members of the Atlanta Parrot Head Club at the beginning of the segment (where they showed people at the concert)? That footage was shot at Lakewood in Atlanta when the Today Show did a feature on Buffett back in 1999. And what a great time that was!

I stayed home from work and was able to tape the whole show and edit out the commercials! Fantastic performance and Katie Couric sure has great legs! She did a barefooted interview on a "beach set" with a San Francisco book review expert. :P

Hey, good to be the new guy in town! I was one of the lucky few who met Jimmy the night before the Today Show!! Posted a pick (album 46 from the first post) that someone was gracious enough to take of me getting Jimmy's autograph on the only piece of paper I had while saying hello to my brother (Togaparrothead) who hadn't yet arrived from Saratoga.
It was a GREAT night and morning!
