How did you discover BuffettNews?

Post by Gypsy In The Palace »

I first discovered this site back in October of 2000. Jimmy had just finished out a leg of the tour with a show in Hawaii, and I was eagerly waiting on the next set of tour dates to come out. I had been checking Margaritaville.com every day for a couple of weeks. Well, one night, I logged onto Margaritaville and once again saw that no tour dates had been posted. I was really frustrated because it seemed like that site was never updated. I just knew there had to be a better way to keep up with Jimmy Buffett news.

So, I went to Yahoo and typed in Jimmy Buffett. Five minutes later, I was on this site, looking all around it. I quickly found the discussion board, and I stayed up until 1:00 AM reading many of the recently posted messages. :D Ever since then, I have been coming back here just about every day. And, at long last, this past May, I decided to take the plunge and register.

So, what's your story?

In April of 2002, I was offered tix to Jimmy's show in Las Vegas. At that time, I was just beginning to date Jeepgirl again and asked her to go to Vegas with me. A few weeks later, the person who offered the tickets reneged and decided to go herself, so here I was, a date for a weekend in Vegas planned and no tickets. To make matters worse, I knew that the last time Jeepgirl had gone to Vegas to see JB, she didnt get to see him cause her tix fell through, so...

I went to Yahoo search, typed in "Jimmy Buffett Ticket Exchange" and up came this site... I ended up getting my tix through E-bay that year but I met all you wonderful folks here.

Not really sure exactly how I stumbled upon it. Probably just off a search engine. Been looking at news here for a couple of years and finally registered after the Dallas concert in April so I could share some stories. I love BN

I'm sure it was through just such a search for 'something Buffett',
but it's been so long I can't remember now. Then 9/11 came along,
and I guess it was a 'safe place' to spend time...

I'm pretty sure my first posts were in a set list thread while
listening to a show on RM. Then I jumped into the MSC and
got hooked. I avoid the Cafe these days for the same reason
(well, one of the reasons anyway) that I avoid crack...
it takes over your life! :P  8)

I was posting on CoB,O. There were some folks there who also posted here. I was told to 'come visit'. One day, I did. That's all it took. 8)

I met a couple of McDonough, GA parrotheads ('Hi Tammy and David') :D at the Atlanta show in February of this year. I had always used M'ville.com and they told me to check out Buffettnews. I did and the rest is history! Thanks again guys!

Like 2fla, I'm also an old "SandBar-ite" ...

But I honestly can't remember how I stumbled in there ...
Since it was before Radio Margaritaville was up and running it couldn't have that link. I almost think the Margaritaville.com home page had one. :-? But if not, then I'm guessing it must have been a search engine instead.

Ironically, my non-PH husband led me to BN. We went to the show in Columbia in Feb. and afterwards, he was searching on-line to try to find a bootleg copy of the show for me and he found BN. He told me about it and the next day I checked it out. (And I did get a copy of the show, thanks to Senator Pullman!)

I am not sure exactly when but I do remember when the rumor started about "Fingers" leaving and I couldn't believe it...there was a lot of good chatter on that subject on BN...and soon after I was hooked. I found myself hiding screens at work while I kept checking back for more info. I have always enjoyed reading the PH Social Area...Finally started posting and am addicted...what a great and phun site...

i was looking for JB sites after the 2002 Dallas concert & stumbled into COBO. was hanging there & Penny invited me to check out BN. How could i turn down a royal invite? ph4 & AB got me tickets to this year's Dallas concert when my ticket buying plans hit a major snag (got to meet Michi when i received my tix and he started the LSP on it's world tour . . .). Met a buncha BNers at that Dallas concert and here i is today . . .

A few weeks before the Dallas 2002 show my buddy Jane said, "I started this discussion on Buffett News about the tailgating in Dallas and I've been talking to some really fun people about it." So I had to check out this Buffett News site she spoke of. Needless to say, I got hooked almost immediately! Met my first BN buddy, ETPH, in person in Dallas that year! :D I have made some really good friends here and I am so glad Jane told me about this place! :D
