Neat concept (does anyone actually say 'neat' anymore). if the price point wasn't too high, I would consider plunking down some cash on the way out of a show...
Besides... if you were *at* the show... neat way to remember it, and cheaper than a tee shirt.
I'd also be happy if they let people download the feeds, etc. But this is perhaps a step in the right direction (hopefully they won't gouge people).

Precisely. I agree that most of us would pay money for perceived or actual value. We'll get there, eventually12vmanRick wrote:You know if the record companies would listen to us and work with us they could make money off of us instead of trying to prosectute us.

Pretty much a no brainer.....amazing it had taken this long for a big company to figure it out.
Just think of all the threads and posts here about getting JB shows that there have been!

Question: "And now Kenny Chesney has recorded a beach album." Jimmy's Answer: "It's flattering. Some people say I should be p*** off about it but I'm really not. It's the highest form of flattery, and I'm fine with it."

as good of an idea this may be, and with all the people wiling to pay what it takes, you should remember that clear channel came up with this idea. clear channel probably owns most of the venues, where jimmy plays, so this would be another way of making money for them, therefore they will probably charge way too much before they get it right and charge something reasonable.

Like $150 for a lawn ticket is a bargain??!!??margaritamyers wrote:I love the idea of getting a recording but after paying $8 for a beer and $32 for a shirt I hate to think what a CD would cost.
I know I am only kidding myself if I think I wouldn't buy it
Somehow, I suspect folks will open their wallet a little wider.

It is a neat theory. (And yes, Santa, I still think things are "neat"
) I don't go to many concerts, but if the price were not exhorbitant, I'd love to be able to do that. Phortunately phor us parrottheads, Jimmy plays all his shows on RM, and (phortunately again) I can usually beg a copy of the show I've been to phrom some kind hearted soul. I'll be really interested to see how this develops.

does this seem, um, very expensive to anyone else? Maybe it's the fact that I haven't bought any CD's (with the exception of Buffett) in the past five years. But really, $20?!

I couldn't agree more. $18.99 for a CD is completely crazy, even if you go to Wal-Mart or Best Buy it's still $15 bucks for a CD that probably cost less than $5 to make. Instead of taking advantage of the Internet, like the way I feel that Buffett has done. They are prosecuting the very people that made them rich in the first place.12vmanRick wrote:You know if the record companies would listen to us and work with us they could make money off of us instead of trying to prosectute us.

I would gladly pay $20 for an on-site recording of a concert I attended. I'm not like some of the other phans on BN who travel the country to hear JB. I'd love to re-live a concert I was at. (No, I'd never pay $20 for a concert I didn't attend).
Remember, a big part of the cost is the "instant" service they're providing
as a convenience, which costs a bit extra. It's not like they can set up a CD "factory" to crank them out on site.
Guesss it's similar to our experience with scaalpers. Everyone complains, but most of us pay a significant premium because we want to be there.
The free market may not price things the way you'd like them, but if people didn't PAY the high prices, they wouldn't BE so high!

yeah, I'd pay it, I just think that's a lot of money for a cd. But, like others have said, you are paying for the "instant-ness" of the purchase.
