This just in from the dude who is making it all happen for parrottheads across Virginia who want the new JB license plates: I am happy to announce that Jimmy approved our use of the term "Parrot Head"
on the Virginia license plates. The artwork has been sent to DMV for
prototyping and I'm actively requesting applications. View the design and get
information on applying by visiting http://www.parrothead.org. Click on the
plate image on the left to access the page. Let's get those applications in
if you haven't already done so.

Just a quick update from Raleigh's webpage regarding the new VA license plates:
From Raleigh Warner:
"I'm still waiting for the prototype to be returned from 3M. Hopefully any day that will happen. Once it is returned it will need to be approved by law enforcement for readability. Then it comes back to me for my approval. At that point the design will appear on the DMV website. I currently have 158 applications in hand. Almost halfway there!"
Okay, I'm going to relinquish FIN PHAN in phavor of one the new plates. Help me decide which to choose (or add your own suggestions). By the way, I've checked, and these both are available:
A. GOBNU
B. BFTNWS

"The prototype has been forwarded to be embossed and should be back at DMV by Friday, September 19. Once received, it will be routed through the Executive Staff and State Police. Upon their approval, it will be forwarded to me for my approval. At that point the design will appear on the DMV website. I currently have 165 applications in hand. Almost halfway there!"
...She's growin' up too fast for me,
And askin' lots of questions ...
Just drove thru Virginia on the way home from a visit
with mom-in-law in WVa. I was afraid I'd see these
plates on a car there and be forced to move north!
In FL, speciality plates and vanity plates are pretty
pricey. It looks like half the tags on VA cars are vanity plates!

Well, Des, now you have an excuse to move to Virginia! BTW, I read somewhere a few years ago that Virginia had (at that time) more options for personal tags than any other state. You can have your college logo, Harley Owner's Group logo, or any of DOZEN of group affiliations' logo on your plate for a couple of $$$$ it seems like!

"October 7, 2003 - OK, here's the latest. I received word today that the Executive Staff approved the metal prototype and it's being sent to the State Police for their approval. Upon their approval, it will be forwarded to me for my approval. It's one more step we've made. At that point the design will appear on the DMV website. I currently have 181 applications in hand. Over halfway there!"
Keep those applications coming VA Parrot Heads!![/b]
