I concur with KLL. I've been to and worked at concerts, ball games, etc. and even High School sports have a strict no container policy. Even so it's hard to make sure everyone is adhering to policy. It seems the venue security should be in more control...
Not one shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious...

I agree.. You cannot stop someone from throwing something on stage.. You would have to be superman.Key Lime Lee wrote:Only way to make sure nothing gets thrown is to prevent ANYTHING from being brought in and not sell food or beverages. Only takes one second to launch something, and as good as those two are, even they're not THAT quick.
I'm sure they assisted or at least directed the ejection however.

Lets just hope that person had a rough night...

Chicago fans are wierd!!
First the crackhead and his son beat up a 1st base coach and now someone throws something at Jimmy Buffett during a concert!
Just all the more reason to drop Chicago from Thursday and Saturday tour dates and add Cincy! We get a Tuesday show and we are the best fans on the face of the Earth! Never in a million years would Jimmy have something thrown at him during a show!
As far as power problems go, that stuff happens. He should have paused and let the roadie work on it in between songs or just given Mayer the night off and played some lead. A little improvisation would have cured that situation and gotten Jimmy out of his distraction. Shred JB!!!!

Why do people have to be so friggin' stupid? I hope the jacka&* was thrown out on his ear...why adults can't behave like they are adults I will never understand. My 6 year old and even my 2 year old would have been better behaved, and my 2 year old is a handful
I just hope that eventually people like that retard don't screw things up for all of us die hard parrotheads. Sorry for the rant...but stupid crap like this just makes my blood boil.

I had been wondering since last night what had been thrown at him...I couldn't tell what it was, but by his face he was definitely very p***! You can't blame it on "Chicago" fans though...there are a**hole everywhere and it could have happened anywhere...
If it was some dipsh*t that got his ticket in some kind of promotion, I would be p*ssed at that though!
Otherwise, I had a great time...he seemed like he was having fun (although I did notice the technical problems were annoying him) and I can't wait for Saturday!!!

I was in the lawn, and will add...was drinking ice water after 2 corona's (too darn hot!), and saw the cup of I believe ice hit Jimmy right in the eye (I was looking thru binoculars the whole concert). Was worried that he might not go on cause he grabbed his eye and bent over for a couple seconds, then stood back up, said 'dont thow...', then angrily kicked it off stage. I did notice all the work being done on the wires, and saw Utley get peeved when his sound must've gone out too...he threw his hands up, and looked around disgusted, while some guy pulled up some wires and replugged into his keyboard. Jimmy did seem distracted most of the time, as was our group...some OLDER guy was so drunk next to us that he was barfing all over, and some underaged twit of a girl was drunk next to us ( only knew sykbh), stumbling all over, flinging beer. Seems it gets harder each year to enjoy the show from the lawn (and we are at the very front). Always drunkards walking over your blanket, not to mention all over your things laying there too. So be it.
Might have to spluge and pay some big bucks for the front next time

i must say this story truly sucks!and i would also agree that it was not a parrothead that through the ice!this is one of the big reasons i think that jimmy should sell his tickets through his website or through a fanclub only. it gets harder and a hell of alot more expensive every year for all of us who really want to be there, and we get idiots like this one that jeopardize the concert for us all.and yes, technical problems happen and jimmy wants to put on the best show he can, so i can understand being p*** about the sound problems as well. as far as the "Tiki Gods" not talking anymore, i wasn't aware of that! but i will say they were miscuing several times at the begining of the tour. thats probably why they don't talk anymore.Jimmy is probably avoiding the potential problem of looking stupid on stage when he's talking to them and they don't respond.

Sounds like Jimmy had a really bad night. The P-burgh show was great. I hope the idiot who threw whatever it was, wasn't just tossed but is fined or something.
On the topic of venue rules that don't make sense, at Star Lake they poured the bottled water my sister bought into a cup. But they were selling whole, carved coconuts for $20 at the same stand. Now that would make a serious projectile. But I guess the theory is that nobody's going to throw something they just payed $20 for. One can only hope.

Love in the library, quiet and cool.

Hey all! Great meeting all the BN'ers at the pre concert party and in the parking lot! BTW Ann, Lee2 at your ribeye!
I had the great fortune of having Row B (2) Center seats last night and they were wonderful. I can shed some light on several questions people have posted on the mishaps and problems that occurred last night.
As far as the power/guitar problems, I had a great view of Jimmy and the roadie offstage. The roadie was doing all he could, and Jimmy WAS frustrated but he was actually laughing and joking with the roadie, especially between songs and intermission. Jimmy tried to stay the consumate entertainer, even when things were going wrong. He did mess a couple lyrics, even after he referenced his "Senior Moment" he had at a concert in PA.
Jimmy's main bodyguard was positioned right in front of me all night, so I can shed some light on the throwing incidents that happened. So everyone knows for sure, Jimmy wants you to throw beach balls on stage, it's part of the show. During the breaks, they cleared all the beach balls out of the pit in front and gave them back to the crowd. Many people up front were throwing balls on stage. The only time the "Big Bodyguard Dude" went ballistic is when a guy 2 rows back of me hit Mac MacAnnally in the head. The face Jimmy made was of total disgust, but Mac just laughed it off, making reference to his Big Head being an easy target. All the bodyguard did was warn the guy.
The other incident is when Jimmy was hit. Jimmy was not hit with a cup of ice, it was a string of red beads, and he got hit in left eye. Jimmy didn't kick them off the stage that I could see. These were thrown by a guy in the 6th row and the bodyguard had him before Jimmy regained his composure. 4 Tweeter guards took 2 guys out of the row and took them up and out of the pit area. Not sure where, but I hope they got a beating. I don't blame the bodyguard at all, he has a tremendous resposibility. He can't be everywhere.
The Utley throwing incident was when a Beach Ball hit "Wilson" the Volley ball (Castaway) and knocked it over behind Utley during the song. Utley went back to get the ball and seemed to unplug himself. Then a roadie came and plugged him back in. Not sure if the problem was before he went after the ball, but he was laughing all the way, not upset that I could see.
These are the incidents I can remember, (I quit drinking before the concert started), if there are anymore, someone jar my memory please!
PD

Wondering if perhaps the offending party in the bead incident was just an over-enthusiastic fan trying to emulate mardi gras.
I mean, I think throwing something on stage is stupid in all circumstances (beach balls included - leave em in the crowd) but before we condemn the person as a "non-parrothead".....

Thanks ParrotDroppings for the info... looked like a glass of something from where I was, and the 'ice' was scattered in front of him (ahh...sparkling beads). After that saw him kick/sweep with foot, mustve been some of them, off stage then. Lucky you...in 2nd row!
