"Before The Salt" is a 2 disc compilation of Buffett's first 2 albums, "Down To Earth," and "High Cumberland Jubilee." It came out many years ago (atleast 10) and those albums have since been repackaged into other versions as well.

I have another version of it. It's called "Captain America". It was my first experience with JB's early stuff and I've enjoyed the discs alot.

Actually they are different ...

Before The Salt is a 1979 release by Barnaby Records that has the all the songs of Jimmy's first two albums (Down To Earth and High Cumberland Jubilee) on it.
Before The Beach was released in 1993 by Margaritaville Records / MCA and while similar, it is missing a couple of tracks (most notably "The Christian").
