Desperation Samba trivia question......

Ok, so I'm on vacation in Florida (don't be jealous, it's raining) having a phantastic time even with the rainy weather. So I go to this bar last night & they have a JB trivia question.
Who cracked the whips in Desperation Samba? It's on the tip of my tongue, but cannot think of it. If anyone out there can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.
