Jimmy and Alan at the CMA's
Hey y'all...
I haven't been here in a while... so apologies if this has been discussed...
First off, a big congrats to Jimmy and Alan on their CMA nomination for Five O'Clock Somewhere. According to today's press release it's at #1 for the SEVENTH week in a row!!!!
At any rate, I was wondering if there's been any rumblings about them doing the song on the awards show in November? The CMA always includes a non-country act doing a duet, this does seem like it would be the natural choice. The show is November 5th - does Jimmy have a show?

To hell with it, marry me.

You won't have to worry about Garth this year. He hasn't done anything at all the whole year, or years recently for that matter. You'll get some great acts like Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and Tim McGraw. And some crappy ones like Toby Keith (haha I bet I will hear about this one)dean_siu wrote:I just hope if they do it that we can find out the agenda in advance....I hate it if I had sit through 2 hours of Garth to get this performance!

Warning: Possible Stupid Questions Ahead ...
Does anyone know what channel will broadcast the Country Music Awards?
Will the show be on a regular network or on CMT?
(I've never had a desire to watch it before, so I have no clue...)
I sure hope the network does, as we don't have any country music channels on cable here.

OMG - it's like I was psychic! Look what came out today!
ALAN JACKSON AND JIMMY BUFFETT
KICK OFF "COUNTRY MUSIC'S BIGGEST NIGHT"
ON "THE 37TH ANNUAL CMA AWARDS"
NASHVILLE - It will be 8:00 PM/EST, Wednesday, Nov. 5, when "The 37th Annual CMA Awards" hits the air on the CBS Television Network, but it will be "...Five O'Clock Somewhere" when superstars Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett perform their homage to bardom for the first time together on network television to open the CMA Awards live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn.
"The song has been a summer phenomenon and we are thrilled to have Alan and Jimmy perform it together to open the CMA Awards," said CMA Executive Director Ed Benson.
"It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" is nominated for Vocal Event of the Year for Jackson and Buffett. The song, which has spent more than seven weeks at the top of the singles charts, propelled Jackson's current project, Greatest Hits Volume 2 And Some Other Stuff, to debut atop both the Billboard Pop and Country Album sales charts with more than 328,000 units sold in its first week -- the highest weekly sales total of any Country album release in 2003.
Jackson, who is the reigning CMA Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year, is nominated for three Awards including Entertainer, Male Vocalist and Vocal Event of the Year. The Vocal Event is Buffett's second CMA nod. The first was in 1977 when he was nominated for Single of the Year for "Margaritaville." Buffett has never performed on the CMA Awards.
"The 37th Annual CMA Awards" will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network Wednesday, Nov. 5 (8:00-11:00 PM/EST). All-time leading CMA Award winner Vince Gill will host the gala event for the 12th consecutive year.

Hot damn tamale man! That is sooooooooo cool!
I bet the records for CMA viewership will be blown out of the water with that little kickstart!
Now I wonder, will Jimmy perform throughout the whole song, or not appear onstage until WWJBD???? Let's hope he's out there the whole time. I think he should present an award too...
I can't wait to hear his acceptance speech!!!!
I'm all tingly!

He's got a couple good songs I'll give him that (I Love This Bar, Huckleberry, Good to Go To Mexico). I just don't like the guy. He's too cocky. Thinks he's a bada$$. I was very dissapointed to see that he has the most nominations. Hopefully Alan and Jimmy beat Toby and Willie. I'm sure they willPHAW Webmistress wrote:Ha ha - read my sig line AMCAir M'Ville Cap'n wrote:And some crappy ones like Toby Keith (haha I bet I will hear about this one)I'm not much into country either but Toby's song certainly hits home for HS and me
That's awesome that Jimmy and Alan will be performing first. Hopefully Jimmy is out there the whole time
