my 2 cents......

i am of the opinion that opening the cma awards show with alan jackson, pretty much guarantees jimmy's first music award. it ain't the grammies, but it is a start.

Good for Jimmy. But i do wonder if this would've been a big hit if just Jimmy had recorded it, not with Alan. :D

Nope.

It's a big hit because Alan recorded it. Jimmy is like a sidecar.

exactly what i would have liked to say. for jimmy it would have been another new song to play in concert and be on a new album. like the proposed country album. this way, opening the cma's with alan jackson and his record of awards, i still think his first industry award is near.

If Jimmy does do a country album, he has his best shot at his own hit in a long time. The fact is that on his own, with his own label and no money being thrown at independent record promoters (the guys you pay to get radio play) he WON'T have a hit unless he plays by the industry rules. We'll see what he does next.

I sure do hope he and Alan get the award. I'm so afraid that Chesney or somebody will get it. To wait this long for an award and not get it would have to be demoralizing. I can't believe that even with all he says, that he wouldn't care.

Anyone know if one song is the standard or might they throw their duet of Margaritaville in also?

No one ever does more than one song. However, a lot of times they will sing parts of songs, just flowing right from one into the other midway through a song. It all equates to about a song's length though anyway. Maybe they'll do that
