Who Is With Me?

Post by f2cdlzrd »

Amongst all the sadness surrounding Ms. Peets' passing, I just wanted to take a minute to say, "I love Jimmy Buffett." I am a rather young parrothead, 27, and his music means so much to me and my family; especially my dad. I just feel I don't say it enough how much I appreciate him and all he does for everyone; not just parrotheads. I don't know if he ever reads this, but I want him to know how much I enjoy him, his music and his concerts. I am blessed enough to be heading to Key West on November 1st. It is my 2nd trip to a place I would have never bothered with if not for Jimmy. I do not put him above everything else in my life, but he and his music are my inspiration at times and I always smile when I visit this board and realize other individuals share my passion. Thank you; I just needed to get this off my chest.

I have often said, Jimmy's music didn't change my life, but just made it so much better.
Thank you, Jimmy.

Ever since 1980 when I first heard Buffett on an old cassette player while in college (he was singing about my Hometown Livingston Montana), his songs have helped me through life. The Buffett lifestyle of livin and dyin in three quarters time, seeing life as just a tire swing, and of course rockin and a rollin on a Livingston Sat. night pretty much sum up my philosophy of life.

Less than a month to MoTM! My first trip to Key West.

Can't wait!!!!

Amen...what would Jimmy do?

So, with all respect to JB:

My life (In 400 words or less)...

Only child, born in Columbia, S.C., son of straight-laced Republican parents. Popular kid in the elementary set, moved to Ellettsville (near Bloomington) Indiana, became unpopular kid. Grew into band geek, got through adolescence without killing myself in a car, went to Indiana University to study theatre and go onto make movies. Went to Buffett concerts. I graduated, fell in love, got engaged, started a Masters in Theology, got unengaged, saw more Buffett concerts, became a Parrotthead, dropped out of seminary after four years, moved to Cincinnati, married somebody else, got fat, got divorced, got thin, traveled the world. Then I turned 30, got married again, became an optician, made glasses, moved to Indiana, became a stock broker, made money. I loved wife, hated job and realized I could keep at it and have a heart attack by 50. I quit the broker business, went back to glasses as a day job and wrote and wrote and wrote. Got drunk, listened to my Buffett CD's, had an epiphany: why wait until I was too old to enjoy life. I became a 'true believer'. Started reading JB's books and realized I was becoming a disciple. Learned fly-fishing, started ground school (for pilot's license), decided to do what I started off doing .Applied to film school, was accepted. I'm moving to Florida in April where I'll learn to make movies and cruise around the Keys in my spare time.

Whew.

One of my few regrets in life is not marrying the "right" woman
in the first place I had MANY chances to see Jimmy and She would not
hear of it. and at the time I did not know enough of relationships
to just go alone or with a friend. That is all passed (for all who do not know
she left me for another woman ) anyway shes gone and I listen to MUCH
better music and it's kinda funny but just like the line from Pirate looks at 40. now "I go for younger woman I've lived with several a while"

Amen, brothers. My second wife is not a PH, but she knows how much happiness it brings me and because of that she's very gung ho for me and happy for me, even if it's not 'her thing.'
