That's funny Pat. . Since he's been in the American League, Pedro has hit far more batters than Clemens.

Is that a fact? 'cause I will look up the numbers and find out if that is true.

OK....now I hate to be picky
but during yesterday's game, the announcer's stated that Clemens has hit 141 batters over his career....and Pedro 91, yes I know Pedro is still young...but.....stats say....Roger has hit more batters, the only one that has hit more is Randy Johnson...
( my #'s may be off by 1 or 2 I did have a few beers)

and I'm pretty sure Pedro has never thrown a broken bat at anyone... :-?

The real statistic that needs looking up is how many of the so called "hit batsman" were hit from the chest up. This whole thing is about head hunting, right? :-?

We all remember this beauty don't we?? :o

:D No one is denying Clemens is a hot-head. (Anyone else feel like we are playing "Your pitcher is worse than my pitcher'??) :o If you look at the replays . you see the whole team (Yankees) trying to get in between Clemens and Manny. I think Roger suprised everyone by being the "grown up". . in this situation.

Lisa - you are right about the stats. . I think I heard/read Roger has second or third highest HBP. . Pat will find the numbers. :D

For those of you that didn't see it, at a press conference today, Zimmer said the following with tears in his eyes and voice cracking -

"I'm embarrassed of what happened yesterday, for the Yankees, the Red Sox, the fans, the umpires and my family. That's all I have to say, I'm sorry," he then got up and left real quickly. He was pretty emotional about it.

Since 1998 Pedro has hit 51 batters, Clemens has hit 42 and thrown one bat at a player.

Pedro was getting knocked around and didn't want NY getting into a comfort zone just like Clemens did in July when he driled Millar But i do't recall any uproar about that.

As far as Bloomberg, I really can't believe he said what he said...this man is mayor of NY making statement like that  I give Zimmer credit for standing up for his players but where were the players? If they wanted Pedro that bad one of the players could have got to him well before Zimmer did.

I guess what bothers me the most is the NY players talking about this outrage that Pedro would throw up an in after getting hit around when last year Hillenbrand took Marino Rivera deep for a game winning HR, the next day when Hillenbrand faced Rivera the first pitch was thrown right at his head. Torre talks about pedro's pin-point control, well what about riveras..... The entire NY organization, are a bunch of hypocrites as well as all the NY papers and their fans.

Wow I just read what Bloomberg said, he sure didn't know what he was talking about  . Probably feels like an idiot now, or he actually may still think that, who knows :-?

I think I can sum this whole thing up:

I was embarrassed as well as most of Boston as to the way some of the Red Sox players acted on Saturday night. The Yankees at the opportunity to take the high road and look like the more sophisticated team... they chose the low road and sank to the Sox level embarrasing themself in the process.

Let's move on to game 4!

arrest Pedro... still makes me laugh

I agree that the blame for what happened on Saturday can be spread pretty evenly between both teams, from the players to the management to the fans. Unfortunately...baseball is filled with overpaid, under-educated, hot head prima donnas who can not control their tempers. It is such a shame that we allow our children to watch their behavior and look up to these idiots. We have become numb to this prevailing bad behavior in sports and are barely shocked by it anymore. It is no longer an outrage when a player or coach behaves like a maniac...it has become the norm....and we actually expect it. That alone is a very sad statement for the game of baseball.

Pedro is a gutless weisel!

Hiding behind the American Leagues gutless DH rule!

Gutless Pedro used to pitch for the Expos and often through at people's heads even back then. When he came up to bat and was thrown inside I recall he would literally run out of the batters box like the b**** he is. He never fights, and when he does he pushes old men's oversized heads to the ground like cheap produce!

I actually hope Boston wins and plays the Cubs so when Pedro comes up to bat against Kerry Woods we can all just see how gutless he is one more time!

(but Boston will probably not even win another game

I think they should declare both teams ineligible for the World Series and give the title to the winner of the Cubs-Marlins series! :D :D
