Re: What's Everyone Listening To?
I make playlists for my iPod ... TropRock, Country Hippy, Shitkickin, Crooner JB, and Mop the Floor are my faves. Also just went back to The Outlaws, and found a great CD with Merle Haggard and George Jones doing each other's songs -- Kick out the Footlights ... I'm a country rock girl at heart, and music transforms my life.
I'm just tryin to get by, being quiet and shy, in a world full of pushin and shove

Outlaws the band or the compilation with Willie, Waylon, Jessi and Tompall? I'm guessing the latter, considering the context of your post.sistergoldenhair wrote:Also just went back to The Outlaws, and found a great CD with Merle Haggard and George Jones doing each other's songs -- Kick out the Footlights ... Took these out for a spin today...

Re: What's Everyone Listening To?
Actually I have both on my iPod, was listening to Waylon & Willie, "If you can touch her at all" last night. Willie Nelson playing in my town this Sunday, will be trying for 1/2 price tix on day of @ box office. But I was referring to "The Outlaws" of Green Grass & High TIdes in my post. But I listen to so many different types of music -- Frampton Comes Alive was blasting as I cleaned the kitchen yesterday. I will admit to being an old codger when it comes to music. I don't like the techno stuff that my kids like. It's not organic enough for me. I like real people playing real instruments!Tiki Torches wrote:Outlaws the band or the compilation with Willie, Waylon, Jessi and Tompall? Re: What's Everyone Listening To?
As do I but I also love modern music, just not the kind of stuff that usually tops the charts. I wanted to direct you to that recent article from Texas Monthly called "The Birth of Outlaw Country" but it seems they're now charging a subscription fee to read it online. If you're able to get your hands on a copy it's a must read for anyone who's a fan of that era of country music. Good luck on the Willie tix!sistergoldenhair wrote:Actually I have both on my iPod, was listening to Waylon & Willie, "If you can touch her at all" last night. Cool thanks! Yes I like artists such as Jack Johnson, even Red Hot Chili Peppers, I guess I just am not crazy about main stream pop. But I'm not in the mainstream demographic anymore. so who cares? (and that's perfectly fine with me!Tiki Torches wrote:As do I but I also love modern music, just not the kind of stuff that usually tops the charts. Re: What's Everyone Listening To?

Now streaming at Churchkey Records' website. Highly recommended for fans of Uncle Tupelo, Jay Farrar and Whiskeytown. At least that was my first impression of the record. It's due for release next Tuesday.

Back in the day when I was working and could afford more music, I bought all his stuff. I really enjoy his music too.sistergoldenhair wrote:Walked the beach today to Van Morrison, all songs on shuffle (iPod) Man, that boy can sing!! Very motivating for a looooong walk.

Been at the beach with non-Buffetty peeps, but they enjoyed Kenny Chesney a lot. So got into his music a bit!!

I get a lot of my music free from the library, copy it into my iTunes. My town library has lots of cd's donated ... it's so fun to browse the racks and take home a stack of cd's to explore ... right now I am searching for Jerry Jeff Walker ... if I can't find his music for free, I will break down and order from Amazon -- I think I want Cowboy Boots and Bathing Suits ... Rock on!conched wrote:Back in the day when I was working and could afford more music, I bought all his stuff. Re: What's Everyone Listening To?
I highly recommend Cowboy Boots and Bathing Suits. One of my favorite latter day Jerry Jeff records and always essential summertime listening. I'm not sure why there are new copies going for as high as $61 on Amazon when it can be ordered directly from Jerry Jeff for $15. Such high prices usually indicate an album is out of print so I have no idea why it's fetching so much.sistergoldenhair wrote:I get a lot of my music free from the library, copy it into my iTunes.
