One of our local Borders just marked everything down to 50% off in their going out of business sale. Most everything is gone but I still managed to scare up a few finds.

Picked these up at a record show yesterday, all on CD. While it was a great show (as usual) the only real find was Boylan Heights. The Connells finally re-released all of their albums last year but only as mp3's. I've been told they're also going to be re-released on CD via Rykodisc but something tells me that's not actually ever going to happen.

Salt In My Veins by Jake and the Half Conched Band



I wish I was good at reviewing music, because I really like this one as well as Jake's last one.

It has a little bit of everything on it...family/friend songs like Suzie Talks to Crabs (working song?) and Salt in My Veins, drinking song like Corona Drinking Dreamer (or this one could be an escape song too), escape songs like Shot of Mexico and Almost Summer, sailing and reflecting songs such as He Puts the C in Captain and Time For a Change, a great cover of INDIGO BLUE-- another escape song or one for personal reflection,

I like all the percussion and instrumentation and synthesized sounds, but the "token"(?) KINDA surfin' sound of Wet Money, didn't work for me as the last song on this album, which was really pretty thought-provoking throughout.

Pass The Jar DVD and double CD was a kinda recent purchase that I just watched...



(I was just reading on the Zac Brown Band thread about Free/Into The Mystic....so great on this album.)

That's the most recent one I bought too. I was going to buy Shelby Lynne's latest CD tonight (I'm pretty sure it came out last year), I think it's called Tears Lies & Alibies, but they didn't have a merch table at the show tonight.

A friend of mine dubbed his copy onto VHS for me years ago so I have seen it. What I haven't seen is the updated DVD version with all the bonus features.
