Christmas Island

Post by HS42Carver »

Hi Everyone,

I have had Christmas Island for a couple years now, by JB. Do you like the album? or do you think it needs improvements? What is the best song on the cd?

I LOVE IT!!! "Happy Christmas (War is over)" is my all time favorite christmas tune and Jimmy does an awesome job with it! And who can't love "Ho ho ho and a bottle of rum". By the way, is that a JB original? My girlfriend asked me and I told her I thought it was but I wasn't certain.

yes, ho ho ho and a bottle of rhum is good....but i think if i had to place my vote, it'd be for merry christmas alabama (not far from home). It's got such a mellow, yet buffett sound to it.

i was also disapointed to hear Christmas Island (the song, not the album) in a department store sung by someone else the other day....i guess i was under the impression that song was a Buffett original.

"Happy Christmas (War is Over)" is also my favorite and one of my all-time Christmas favorites. "Kalikimaka, Mele" is also a favorite...reminds me of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (my favorite X-mas movie).

:pirate: I am sure that you all know this already but I am just including this info for anyone who just bought this CD. If you let the last song (Merry Christmas Alabama) keep going there is a surprise at the end of the song (Maybe a full minute after the song ends). Enjoy and Happy Holidays.

I love it - as a matter of fact I think I'll put it in right now! Perfect for a Sunday morning before football starts!

That sounds like a great idea Pilot. Believe I'll do the same. May even crack open a Corona - it's five o'clock somewhere, right?

The way I look at it, it's always 5:00 if there is a football game on, or Buffett is on!!

You know I could not stand the Merry christmas/War is over
when it was released in the 70's I have not changed my mind
that song was the only dissapointment on the CD for me.
I do love the rest of the Cd with Sailors Christmas being my favorite.
and Run Rudoulph Run being a close second.

I've always loved it. My favorite "fun" song is Run Run Rudoph (dude!) and my favorite serious song is "Merry Christmas Alabama." :D

I love it - with the exception of Up On the Housetop. Could do without the surfer talk. But otherwise, it's always in my CD changer around this time of year!

I went to Walmart today to buy it, and they didn't have it. Going to school in a town that has nothing but a Walmart and grocery stores sucks! I guess I'll have to wait until next weekend when I go home to Knoxville.

I love it - I wonder why they didn't put Christmas in the Caribbean on it.

You should check the grocery store, BR! My wife and I were at our local grocery last week and stopped by the little "kiosk" of cheap Christmas CD's that had shown up since Thanksgiving. I figured it couldn't hurt to look for CI but didn't expect to find one, but there was one for $6.99. First time I've ever bought music at a grocery store.

I really like the disc as well, except for Up On The Rooftop. As Buckeye said, the surfer talk just annoys me.
