Tommcat--- I just didn't want people to think I was mad. I enjoy very much and open and friendly debate. I didn't want you all to think I was a poor sport
7Lords--- When I said "addressed", I ment that Nascar told the other Roush drivers that if they interfered<sp?> with the out come that "actions" would be taken. What that exactly means I'm not sure.
Key Lime Lee--- All I'm saying is I love racing. Is it perfect? NO, But like everything in life you have to take the good with the bad.
You wouldn't happen to be a Champ Car fan would you, Lee?
I've been too close to a lot of people in NASCAR for too long to be able to trust them. That goes double for all the bedfellows of the France family and their attempts to "dumb down" racing in general.
I could go on, but I'm not here for a debate.

Not a rabid fan, but if its got wheels and goes fast...
And yeah - I think most folks who've dealt with NASCAR tend to have that reaction...

I'm not digging it. They're just "artificially" creating a 10-race points series and they have no problem saying they're doing it simply for TV rating. It's almost as ridiculous as the hoops they make the drivers jump through in the Winston. To make the last 10 races more important than they first 26 is disingenous to the sport (not that NASCAR has ever cared so much for the traditions of the sport as much as lining the vault of Speedway Inc.).
Certainly the points system needs revamping, but then folks have been suggesting as far back as 1985 that they need to find a way to make it worth winning a race, not stroking it into second week after week. Something akin to the F1 points system would have made more sense - Award the top 20 with points only. 30 points for a win, 20 for second, 19 for third etc. Below 20th and you don't get points.
It's amazing to me that despite nearly 20 years to create a better solution, this clusterf**k is the best they could do.
But then, that's NASCAR.
I definitely agree with you here. I always go to the Tropicana 400 in July and I don't know that it will be the same going now that it will not seem as important as one of the final ten. Oh well, I guess we will all just have to be optimistic and think that change is good! Fins up!

How do you think I feel? I have tickets for 2 races outside of the last 10...BTW, anybody want a pair of 3 day seats for the AAA 500 weekend?
...at cost...

Now here's something NEW to think about. According to the http://www.jayski.com web site, NASCAR is looking at EUROPE. Maybe not the Nextel series, but a series under the Nascar banner to booster Europe's interest in Nascar

I DONT SEE EUROPEANS LIKING ANYTHING THATS NOT EUROPEAN IN ORIGIN.I THINK IT WOULD BE A HUGE FAILURE,BUT MAYBE THAT'S WHAT NASCAR NEEDS

But Tom, they already have an interest in the krapwagens (IRL)!!! If they go to Europe, the common folk might like the "bump & grind" of it all; After all, they did like Fizzy in the ITC series.

Well, putting politics aside, The weekend is finally here, YEAH . The truch race last night was awesome. And I found out the a good friend of mine got a job as the tire changer for the #1 Yellow Trucking Busch team w/ Johnny Benson. And look for a guy named "Brown" jumping over the wall on Saturdays
With all the controversial points stuff aside for now, who is your money on for the 500? I would like to see a Roush car win, but my money is on Sadler. And you can't put it past the DEI guys either.

Rusty gets closer and closer every year and it is very possible. It would be nice to see somebody that doesn't drive for DEI to win at a restrictor plate track!
I was very happy that Dale Jr won...I had told my family as the race began, that I hoped someone who hadn't won before did today. I was pulling for Rusty in a way though...it's about time he won the 500.
I'm a huge Michael Waltrip and Dale Jr fan...so I was really happy about Jr winning and Michael coming out ALIVE!
