The world lost a wonderful role model today. I am the person I am in large part due to the Captain Kangaroo show. I was so drawn to Captain Kangaroo, and his gentle, playful nature. A light in my world is turned off forever now.
I consider myself to be the person that I am thanks to growing up watching two great men: Captian Kangaroo and Mr. Rogers. The message both of these remarkable men passed on to a couple of generations has done more for our society than a million Tele Tubbies or The purple freakin dinosaur!!!!!
As Connie said so elequently, Sail on Captain!!!!
Now Mr. Rogers has someone to join his neighborhood!!!!!

Bob Keeshan autographed his autobiography for me many years ago... he was as nice in person as his Captain Kangaroo character was on TV.
If you're from the Midwest, you know that besides Mr Rogers, he is also joining WGN's Chicago icon Ray Rayner, who passed away Wednesday, in the great children's entertaintainment section in the sky.
Sail on, Bob and Ray, and keep sailing on Fred.
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say
I’m still gliding as I go flying down this endless wave

Glad you brought up Ray, TB - I loved his show when I was a kid and was saddened when I heard that earlier this week. Now this second blow to my childhood memories
Sail On Guys - and thanks for being part of my life
It's kind of neat in way to think of the things that bind us all together, besides Jimmy Buffett. I think it says something about the kind of people we are. Somehow, I just know that Jimmy is also a fan of Captain Kangaroo, Mister Rogers, etc.
My love is staying an anchor tied to you with that silver chain.
I can't believe it. When I heard, I got a huge flash back to a more simpler time. When all of my worries were see cartoons and watching the Capt'n. Sail on

Sail on Capt'n
They may not know the Captain but thanks to PBS and reruns, my daghter is now a fan of Mr. Rogers
Many of us as children never had many of the things children of today have, and today's children will never have many things children of the next generation will have. It's simply continuity of the generations (for lack of a better phrase). But what's REALLY sad is children of today and future generations will never experience what kids of my generation did. What greater joy on this earth is there than for a child to be a child.
Go with God and rest well, Mr. Keeshan. And many thanks for the endless memories.
