My parents experience at a JB concert
In 97 or 98, My parents attended the Tampa Show at [what was then] The Ice Palace. Recalling the show today, they tell me they didn’t enjoy it that much due to the fact that they had “nosebleed” seats behind the stage and everyone around them was screaming the words to every song. They say that they were so loud you couldn’t even hear Jimmy. They also told me that there were a lot of drunks and people smokin’ pot (one of them being two rows in front of them).
I have never been to a concert yet, but all I can tell them is “that’s parrot heads for ya!”
I guess it’s no lie when they say JB shows are parties, not concerts!

How the world is different.
My parents dragged me to my first concert and it was basically the same way but I still had a BLAST. Its something that grows on you. I would tell them to give it a chance again. Different Venues, Different Years, Different People.

Sounds like decent seats to meParrot Monkey wrote: seats behind the stage and everyone around them was screaming the words to every song. They say that they were so loud you couldn’t even hear Jimmy. Seats? What are those?
Have them try an outdoor venue in the lawn...lower lawn to avoid all the really drunk people! The older people I've seen in the lower lawn usually go in right as the gates open so they're right up front and center with a good view and less obnoxious people (for the most part). That's the route I took when I brought my parents with me, they're really old school and they had a blast. They don't touch alcohol, don't smoke, etc. and if they can enjoy then there's hope for everybody!

There are Parrotheads in Angola??? I guess we are everywhere! I am in Michigan and I had a freind who went to Tri-State, and I thought about it also, but decided elsewhere. At least you can always make a trip to Cincy or Indy for a show![/quote]

I saw Springsteen in Tampa as well. I had nosebleed seats and it sucked. Nobody was standing up, dancing, nothing. Same thing at the Billy Joel/Elton John concert. I swore I would never get tickets in the upper sections again. And that includes nosebleed tix for Buffett. If I can't get good seats the day they go on sale then I will buy them through another source.Parrot Monkey wrote:They never said they would never go again, they just want to have better seats.
I went to see the boss (Springsteen) there with my parents and brother and our section was DEAD!Just the opposite! We were the only people standing up! I guess either extreme can be aggravating.
Bring me the hot sauce, bring me a beer. Going to be the last man standing, but where do you go from here?
Phinhead that's too bad, My last two Buffett shows were behind the stage
SJ on Pattys day a couple of years ago, and Denver last year
I normaly travel with My sister and she doesn't make as much
money as I do so we have to "go Cheap" I like the seats in the back
the crowd is a mix but noone said anything when we danced and sang
and we were not alone having a good time.
My personal thought is that for the most part the folks who go to the Boss
Or BJ and EJ are concert goers. Not fans, And most of the PHolks
at a JB show are PHans not just going to see one song or another.

I have to agree to some extent with your parents. I didn't enjoy the sound at all at St Pete's ...I couldn't hear a thing. But, then....Jim Morris across the street was the topper for me! I am so glad I went to the Tampa show, eventhough the Ice Palace was a bummer. It was too crowded and the lines seemed a we bit too boisterous even...going up and down the escalators was kinda nutty too.Parrot Monkey wrote:In 97 or 98, My parents attended the Tampa Show at [what was then] The Ice Palace. That was one show I could not wait to hear on RM replay!
Seats behind the stage in Anaheim were lower and were the best seats I have ever had. I enjoyed that show as much as any I have ever been to.
Dallas lawn was a bad experience for me...an older parrot, but I learned that I have to have better seats there. I would never PASS IT BY!

Nosebleed seats at the Ice Palace, nee St. Pete Times Forum, s*** *period.* We went to see JB last year. Tailgating was a hoot, and people were having a great time, but I was lucky to figure out what song Jimmy was singing most of the time. The sound was garbled and muddled. It was probably better down on the floor or even on the first deck, but the upper deck was crap.
I bought my tickets 10 minutes after they went on sale and *still* wound up with crappy seats.
I'm just hoping Jimmy comes to Knoxville again sometime soon, as I moved back north to the South.

Yeah, I have agree about the sound in the upper level at that location. I had seats in the lower section for the Buffett concert and the sound was great. I have sat in the upper section in Tampa before and the sound is really lousy. You can't understand anything that is being said between songs.mrmiata wrote:Nosebleed seats at the Ice Palace, nee St. Pete Times Forum, s*** *period.* We went to see JB last year. Never took my folks, but Mom stood in line for me for tix for my first show in '78 or '79. She handed me the tickets $17.50 for two and said "Why the Hell would you spend that much on one show, you could buy three albums for that and have them the rest of your life"
