Kenny Chesney Tour Dates Here!!

Post by asuwookie »

Alright. I know Kenny Chesney can be compared to the spawn of satan by most parrotheads right now but I found his summer tour dates posted all the way through September here http://www.kchesney.com/?inc=calendar&sm_ord=3052
I figured some are concerned that Chesney might do some shows with Jimmy and I also figured since Jimmy's not giving us any dates any time soon why not do some speculation. I know some of us are planning on the Greatwoods show and other shows so if Kenny and Jimmy are not even in the same town at the same time that might give us some relief or disappointment depending on your stance.

By the way ...you can also hear Kenny Chesney's new album at www.cmt.com Again I know most of you hate Kenny Chesney now but some of the songs I could really see in a buffett show. You might want to check out "Keg in the closet" which is an ode to college life and has a margaritiville fell to it and "outta here" a very BUFFET like song discussing getting "outta here" and "crusing down A1A" "People Change" also has some emotional depth to it.

Give it a chance ! :)

I like his music, and watched part of 3 specials about him last night on CMT, but a lot of things bug me when I watch Kenny...

1. His sleeveless shirts.
2. He sings a lot wearing a guitar, but doesn't play it.
3. His dancing looks unnatural, like he has worked with a choreographer, and is trying too hard. Seems very forced.
4. I'm not a homophobe, but he looks like a dork dancing with the boys in the band who actually play their instruments.
5. His shoulders are pulled back when he sings, like a little guy who is trying to look tough, or looking for a fight.
6. He high fives the audience way too much.
7. He sounds like he is lip synching - the live songs sound exactly like the recordings - no improvisation.
8. He's bald and looks like ET - I have NO idea what all the fuss is all about.
9. His whole performance needs work - he seems too stiff. He should loosen up and try to have fun, but be himself (unless he IS being himself, then he should change!

I know these are petty and unfair, but they still bug me. I'm better off listening with my eyes closed! :D I wish him continued success!

Boy Kenny doesnt want to stay home much? Anyhow his Greatwoods date is very close to when Jimmy usually comes. Labor day is late this year so it could be either week for JB.

If you read the cd insert, He thanks Jimmy for sharing a stage and he notes that "outta here" reminds him of a trip he took driving from Coconut grove to Key West listening to "He went to Paris".

If you are going to buy KC's new album (When The Sun Goes Down) that came out today go to a Target and according to his website you will receive an attachment with 5 extra songs. One of the extra songs is KC's cover of JB's "Come Monday"!

Cheers
Question: "And now Kenny Chesney has recorded a beach album." Jimmy's Answer: "It's flattering. Some people say I should be p*** off about it but I'm really not. It's the highest form of flattery, and I'm fine with it."

He also has Please Come to Boston, which Jimmy has played a few times. It actually sounds pretty good. I think I will probably buy the CD. I am one of the few parrotheads who like Kenny!

Phunny thing I noticed: He doesn't even come *close* to "back where he came from" on those tour dates. There's only one Tennessee date and it's on the other side of Tennessee. Guess he doesn't think he needs to go near Luttrell again after he gave away... I mean *sold* all those tickets for the Knoxville show. :-?

I like Kenny. I liked him before I realized he was a Buffett fan.

Bought the new CD yesterday (wish I knew about the bonus tracks at Traget). Anyway, this is a really good CD and I was really impressed with a couple of the songs Kenny wrote... "Old blue chair" sounds like old school buffett!

I hope that Kenny continues to write more songs like this!

Why is there animosity toward Kenny Chesney? Because he was influenced by Jimmy and changed his style to be more like him??? Why is that a bad thing again?

If anyone's got a copy of Kenny's version of Come Monday, can you download it into this thread so we can listen to it?

Ok....assuming Kenny will sing at one of Jimmy's concerts (NOT a given!)...with the X factor, multiplying variables to a quotient of the cogent....Kenny is in Memphis on the 21 of May, and has the previous weekend off....so May 15 looks possible for a Nashvegas JB concert. That is, assuming Kenny has anything at all whatsoever to do with it (NOT!). And you know how to break down the word ASSUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  8)

I really like the new direction Chesney is taking. It's nice to see a little diversity in music. And couldn't every genre use a little more JB influence?
