I think McClain started out with the Senators but ended with the Tigers
I definately remember Frank "Hondo" Howard. As a Yankee fan, he KILLED us in the 1963 World Series when he was with the Dodgers.
The Dodgers won it in four consecutive games, with Hondo hitting TOWERING home runs in 2 of the first 3. In that 4th and final game, Whitey Ford pitched a 2-hitter for the Yankees. Frank Howard got BOTH of the hits, one of which, was, you guessed it, a home run. Mickey Mantle hit a home run for the Yankees in that game, and the final score was 2-1.
Sandy Koufax won the 1st and 4th games of that series, struck out 15 in the 1st game, and was named the series M.V.P. The Dodgers pitching staff (Koufax, Podres, and Drysdale) allowed the Yankees all of 4 runs in those four games. The Yankees pitchers did okay-allowing the Dodgers to score only a total of 12 runs in that series, but in the end, it was the Dodgers (thanks in large part to Howard and Koufax) who prevailed.
As for your Denny McLain question, he started out with the Tigers, where he spent the majority of his career, and played his last two years for the Washington Senators (the team that is now the Texas Rangers).
