Dude,NYCPORT wrote:A couple of years a go when we started all this madness (Buffettnews) I think I made it to 6 or 7. Ft. Liquordale, Camden, Jones Beach, Vegas, and of course the two Great Woods shows. There is one other show I just can't remember. Further proof I was at all those shows!
That year I think you had 7 cuz I had 8 and we went to all the shows together except Atlanta.
1. Ft. Liquordale
2. Vegas 1
3. Vegas 2
4. Camden
5. Atlanta
6. Jones Beach
7. Great Woods 1
8. Great Woods 2
I just mapquested it and the mileage works out to be approximately 10,649 miles.
It's kind of funny... I actually remember feeling a lil' "buffetted out" towards the end of that summer.
Not anymore though... How bout some frigin' tour dates already!!!

Wow... I added it up....
12 shows.... 24,500 miles, give or take ten or twenty miles.....
I flew to Tampa on a Saturday knowing I might be recalled to active duty, again, on Monday. But Monday came and went, and I got to head back south for the Miami show. Each time an opportunity came up for a show, the phone rang, bringing the possibility of a trip to Iraq. So every time I had the opportunity for a show, I went.
You never know what tomorrow will bring.... Life is short.... play hard.....

I first saw Jimmy in I think 1975 in Wash DC ( My home town ) I think I've seen him prob 25 times. I have two favorites
1) at the cellar door in georgetown with about 400 people ( 1975 )
and just his guitar and a mike no band Awsome
2) Again in DC when CIL-CIA came out he was the opening act for the eagles who had just released Hotel Califorina.
What a show

Hubby and I were scheduled to see Jimmy for the 1st time on 9-13-2001, but some terrorists did not cooperate. When the show was rescheduled, I could not get away from the mental hospital ( my job, not as a patient). So we had to console ourselves with a trip to Cincinnati the next summer, such a great experience, we had to go to 4 shows last year ;

My first Buffett show was Great Woods, September 1, 2001. My second show was supposed to be 9/13/01, and I was supposed to fly to Chicago on 9/12/03. On 9/11, the requirements of my job kept me from contacting my family for several hours. My oldest son got the days confused, and thought I had flown out of Boston that morning; he spent the day thinking I was on one of the planes......big hat carmen wrote:Hubby and I were scheduled to see Jimmy for the 1st time on 9-13-2001, but some terrorists did not cooperate. If I remember correctly, though, none of the planes that were hijacked were going to Chicago; weren't they all going out west?

Yes, that's correct. But he was only 13, and couldn't remember where I was flying to, only that he thought I was flying that morning.Gypsy In The Palace wrote:Oh, how terrible!SchoolGirlHeart wrote:My first Buffett show was Great Woods, September 1, 2001. I can only imagine how relieved he must have been in the end.

Poor kid came home from school alone and checked my itinerary on the computer. If the news had been different.... *shudder*
On my way to Anaheim two weeks ago, I flew American and took the same flight as the one that was hijacked. They've changed the flight number, but it was the early nonstop from BOS to LAX; same gates, same airframe, about the same departure time and route. I have to admit, it was a little creepy, and certainly sobering...
