Most of you should know that my brother Scott has been in complete
kidney failure for quite some time and has been undergoing dyalisis( 4 times a
week) for a few years. About 1 year ago, he was also diagnosed with a heart condition that weakened his heart extensively. Before this we had hoped
to pursue a kidney transplant but because of his heart, it was decided that
he could not undergo the surgery. Doctors were NOT hopeful that his heart
would strengthen, and revealed to my mom that "Scott was a very sick young
man". My hopes were crushed as I had hoped to one day be his donor.
Yesterday, Scott went for his regularly scheduled appointment and an
EKG. He then went on about his day. He was actually in route to come pick me up
at work as I had turned in my school car as a result of my new position.
His cardiologist, called the house to speak to Scott who was of course not
there. She said that she didn't normally call patients with the results of
their test but she was "very excited at the results". Mom called Scott immediately
on his cell phone and told him to call the doctor. The doctor informed
Scott that his heart functioning was "almost normal" and she was calling his
kidney doctor to tell him "Scott WANTS A transplant!!!" She is giving him the
thumbs up to pursue it!!! I don't know how quickily things will move...but I
will keep you all informed. Please first and foremost say a prayer of
Thanksgiving for my family and Scotts heart!! Also say a prayer that his kidney
doctor concurs and that we will continue to move forward with this. And most importantly, that when we do move forward, that we find a match for him.
hopefully me!!!:) Thank you all for your continued support and prayers!
