Charleston!
I am a sophmore at the College of Charleston. I feel in love with this city when I moved down here. I am from the Upstate of South Carolina, so it was not a far move for me. Charleston is unlike any other city in South Carolina. It has a very European feel to it. The weather here is great too usually. The winters are never too cold, the summer it is rather humid, but thats just a really good excuse to spend a lot of the summer at the beach. The people in the city could not be nicer. I have encountered more polite and helpful people here than anywhere else in the state. It does not take long for this city to really feel like home either. Well, that is just my input into this. We have beautiful architecture, great weather, and nice people. Oh, and don't worry about the tourist during the summer. They aren't too bad. 4th of July week they do flood into the city, but one week of a lot of them isn't too bad. I stayed here and worked/lived here last summer. I couldn't bring myself to leave Charleston and go back home for the entire summer. Do look around and give the other cities a chance, your other choices are great places, but I promise you, you will not be unhappy with Charleston.
I've read dozens of books about heros and crooks and have learned much from both of their styles.

None of us care who moves here from where. What most anyone minds (no matter what state or country) is when someone moves into that place and complains about everything about the place. If it is SO bad (this goes DOUBLE for some) GO BACK FROM WHENCE YOU CAME.
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

Technically, they would be "damn yankees", since they moved there. "Yankee" is a term generally reserved for northerners who are only visiting the south.Caribbean Soul wrote:In either one, just be prepared to be constantly referred to as a "Yankee", as the "War Of Northern Aggression" is still not over...

And in the 50+ years I've lived in the South, I've
met quite a few. Don't come down to enjoy our
sunshine and hospitality, and then be critical.
Just STAY HOME!

Bixxx...thats the wonderful thing about living in SC. Most of the coastal cities are small, so you can get in without going through thousands of tourists. Hell, even as touristy as Myrtle Beach is, I would still rather go there than many other places. But even still, you're only a short drive from so many smaller, out of the way beaches. I know our winters don't even begin to compare to yours but I still get cabin fever around this time of year waiting for the 80 degree weather to hurry up.
