I have a couple of times. Didn't have any problems, except the overinflated prices.

Hate them as we may, as long as they have a permanent office, they have a reputation (such as it is) to protect, so they're a LOT safer than ebay!!
P.S. They're all OK with phans "dialing for prices", so I call early and often.
Small brokers don't want to get stuck with tix as the date approaches, so sometimes a last minute "bargain" can be found.
Happy hunting!!

Brokers s***

Post by diveman »

Ticket Brokers s***. The government should ban them and put them out of business. They pay off TM to get all of the good seats for every show. Then mark the price up 5 times of face value and screw the common folk just trying to see their favorite band.

I tried to get tix this morning for Alpine Valley and no luck. I have a high speed cable connection and high speed pc. and I get getting a TM error that the server was too busy. When I did get through I had a ten minute wait only to be told that it was sold out.
Anyone else have this problem?
Once again Ticket brokers s***!!!
Does anyone agree or disagree?

BROKERS

Post by JIM4610 »

I THINK ITS A BUNCH OF BULL.. YOU MAY AS WELL JUST PLAN ON BUYING TICKETS EITHER ON EBAY OR A BROKER. I THINK TICKETMASTER IS THE PROBLEM. AS STATED BEFORE, THEY MUST BE SELLING UNDER THE TABLE. HAPPENED TO US LAST YEAR AS WELL. OH WELL WE GOT TICKETS - TIME TO WASTE AWAY...

Shut out in less than 10 min.

Post by skier1500 »

I stood in line at Tweeter Center in Tinley Park for over an hour. At 10:03 on 3/20/04 the second person in line could not get 8 pavilion seats. He had to buy lawn. I needed 6 lawn seats and was shut out after just 30 people purchased tickets at the window. Just imagine my suprise when I phoned my sister at 10:20 am and she said she had called 7 different ticket brokers and they all had tickets available. With an 8 ticket limit for this show how do they get so many tickets. The price ranged from $100.00 for lawn to $650.00 a seat for pavillion. There has to be some large blocks going to brokers before they go on sale to the public.

I thought monopolies were against the law???

Post by scribe1128 »

Oh, yeah, Ticketmaster, the evil of all evils. When Jimmy was out here in January, tickets were supposed to go on sale at 10 a.m. on a particular morning. I was pre-registered with TM. After many, many, many tries all day long, the message kept coming up saying tickets weren't on sale yet! Then they were sold out? What the ****? So we never got tickets. A few days later, they "released" some more seats - behind the stage! :x

There is NOT much that we phans can do. This year we went on line stood inline and on the phone. All we wanted was 2 tickets. we got 2 for tweeter. Thats all no Alpine Valley. We bought 2 on ebay. It sucks, but not much we could do. Next year, I'll sell a kidney for 2 good seats. We are just little phans. We don't have the money to bribe tm. So thers nothing that we can do. Sorry.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I've managed to get a ticket to every show I've tried to go to. Not necessarily from ticketmaster, but from either this board, or CoBO (can I say that here? :) ) or just at the tailgate before the show. And I've never paid more than face value (unless you count the lawn seats where it was easier to just tip the guy than hunt for change- I don't). Granted, I've only been to one really high-demand show (Nissan last year).

(And yes, I know I'm very lucky!)
