I would think very long and hard about getting a tattoo. I woke up with one one morning in Panama City and it's never coming off.

I wanted a tatoo for YEARS and waited and waited. I finally did it! BUT it is something that I will be proud of for the rest of my life because I didn't just go out on a whim and get one. Think of a tattoo as "a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling". Because it is just that. If you want to use the tattoo to remember that feeling years later then great. If this is something you are doing because of a fad or to fit in or be cool. Then don't ever do it!

Oh, and it does hurt!

My theory on tatoos:

When you have a body like mine, you don't want to cover any of it up with a tatoo!

Sorry, it's a key (island) with a sunset and a date January 11, 2003 which is OUR (nicole and me) wedding date! Since we got married on a yatch in the keys it seemed appropriate! AND it's on my ankle and my understanding is that is one of the most sensitive places. OH WELL! I will do another sometime!

I have wanted to get one for a long time but I'm only 17 my aunt got matching tatoo's with her best friend when I was like 10 and just in the last couple years I've been thinking of getting one and what more appropriate then buffett. I walk talk and breath buffett. My aunt is the one that grew me up on his music and I hold her the closet to me heart so It's not just some fad I've though long and hard and I have another year to change my mind. I doubt it though

in northern california, there are stores that sell party stuff. one of those stores (diddams) sell packages of temporary tatts, in the tiki merchandise area. there are about 3 to a package. they were a palm tree, parrot and a blazing sun. might be the answer to your temporary feeling.

I think Jimmy says it best: Permanent reminder of a temporary feeling
But if you're going to do it, more power to you. Personally, I hate pain.

January 11, a great day to be married. Next year on that date, hubby & I will celebrate 30 years. We got married in Ohio and went to the keys for our honeymoon and are planning a return trip next January. Hope you are as happy as we have been. Take Care!!

I got myself a nice little Buffett-inspired tattoo about 5 years ago. I love it, but I wish it was interchangable! I don't want to get another one, but I wish I could switch it out. I love the 'fins' logo thing someone else was talking about, I originally wanted a parrott, but I didn't want it that big and there's too much detail in a parrott to do it small. I looked at a bunch of Buffett album covers and tropical pics, but I ended up getting a palm tree on an island with the moon behind it and there's some ripply water around the shore. It's on my hip/stomach and it did hurt. But, pain's temporary, right? Anyway, be sure to think about where on your body you get it... I got it where I did because I didn't want it to be showing when I'm at work or when I am wearing a nice, formal dress or something like that. I can show it off when I want.

Blah, blah, blah... I'm sure you've heard it all before! Just think about life in 30 years and if you'll be able to live with it!! Have fun!

About the whole tattoo issue.... My sister got her first when I was 16 (my mom payed for it for her 21st b-day) and well I've been thinking about it every since. I was gonna get a parrot, flamingo, sunset and went thru about 15 different "Hawaiian" themed ideas and would go thru stages of the one I want. Well about a year ago I thought of something totally different....My initals with 4-leaf clovers. (I am extremely proud of my irish background and up-bringing) And well it was the only tattoo idea to stay with me. For Christmas my mom payed for it as a gift and I love it. I actually really relieved I didnt pick something beachy cause that might come and go....but I will be Irish forever.

Tips of Advice:
1) dont ask for other people advice. Its your tattoo and only you can truely decide. If you ask people what they think you are going to get 1000 different suggestions and you wont be truely happy with your tat.
2) When you have an idea draw it out and put it somewhere so you will see it everyday....you might get bored with it. Wait and Wait and when you think you are ready WAIT SOME MORE! I am sooooo glad I didnt go with a Flamingo or palm trees when I was 18. Once you get over the fact that YOU want a tattoo SOOO bad and NEED to get it right away you really can think what you want.
3) be really picky about the spot for future professions. (mine is on my lower back so I can show it when I want...)
4) and No it didnt hurt as bad as I thought it was going to. I was sitting on a stool with my feet in a chair bent over with my head between my knees...and that was more painful then the needle. The only thing that was uncomfortable was when he would go over the spine and I could feel it vibrate in my neck.......but it didnt hurt I swear!

Happy Tattooing!
