Great Heart is ok, but we've already had it as an opener. He will do enough songs we hear every year so I hope he throws a good, upbeat song BUT one which is rare, classic and us fans of the gulf-western sound days love.
I like Landfall (tho it seems better for an encore). or CLICHES!! ...Livingston Sat Night would be cool too...or Peanut butter...

I want him to sing "Making Music for Money" and "If it all falls down" and "My Lovely Lady" and explain to us why he has forsaken what he started out doing. Like making music for him and not for money and what the hell happened to the storyteller ?

He probably doesn't hang out in dive bars with the wino's. He doesn't hang out on the street corner playing his guitar and talking to homeless people with the stories they could tell. I believe alot of the inspiration for his earlier work came from people who were not well off, but hung out in dive bars and on street corners. I would imagine that he now buddies around with other celebrity type of people, and has very little intereraction12vmanRick wrote:I want him to sing "Making Music for Money" and "If it all falls down" and "My Lovely Lady" and explain to us why he has forsaken what he started out doing. with the type of people that inspired his earlier work. ALSO-After 35 years of writing songs that tell stories, it probably becomes a little more difficult to come up with an interesting story to tell. I'm just glad he is still making music. The song Far Side Of The World showed he still had it in him. Maybe we will get another glimpse of it on his LTC cd.

Lots of good suggestions out there
Great heart was great, but it is a new tour....so..........I vote for BRAND NEW COUNTRY STAR!!!!!!!!
Others I would accept are: Landfall, the Christian, MAKIN' MUSIC FOR MONEY, Livingston Saturday Night(on Saturdays), We are the people......(great in Anaheim) or Quietly Makin' Noise
and of course, Migration couldn't disappoint

We used to laugh at Grandpa when he'd head off and go fishing. But we wouldn't
be laughing that evening when he'd come back with some whore he picked up in
town.

I agree with your statement completely! I just hope this new stuff is some fad for him. I am just as disappointed in his total sell out these days though. He has enough money.phinhead wrote:He probably doesn't hang out in dive bars with the wino's. Oh geeze, decisions, decisions.... do I have to pick just one?
Maybe I can post the set list I most want to hear?
Well, if I can't do that, I'm going to go with Gravity Storm as my pick for opening song. Followed by Barometer Soup, Stories We Could Tell, School Boy Heart.....whoops, I'm posting my set list!!
