License to Chill
I'll just buy it when it comes out, as I have with every other album he has released and, once I listen to it, will decide if I like it or not!!

The only thing I can come up with is that he wants to wait till May/early June to try and get a single released for that "summertime song," like 5 O'Clock was, since he is a little more radio friendly now and Chesney sings on License to Chill may he thinks it is possible. That is the only thing I can think of, Jimmy knows how big a deal new albums are to his fans, especially one as hyped as this. One thing I was disappointed on was Jimmy's vocals on LTC, they didn't seem as clear as Kenny's. And if you notice in the video Kenny is singing into a condenser mic (your normal studio mic for vocals) and Jimmy is singing into what looks to by a dynamic mic (a mic used for vocals on stage). So, maybe Jimmy caught some other things like this and is re-recording some things. Any spies in Key West see Jimmy around Shrimpboat lately?

Not sure where you got your information, but condenser mics are not just used for studio and dynamic mics are not just used for performance. Both can be used for both depending on the sound the producer or the engineer is looking for.MargaritaMatt wrote:The only thing I can come up with is that he wants to wait till May/early June to try and get a single released for that "summertime song," like 5 O'Clock was, since he is a little more radio friendly now and Chesney sings on License to Chill may he thinks it is possible. Jimmy's been recording long enough that they don't use the wrong mic and not notice before tracking.

I knew someone was going to say that, it was a general refference to when those mics are used. But, if you have the SI CD-ROM, put it in and listen to Jimmy's vocals (also compare them to Kenny's) and tell me you would be happy with that if it was your song.

This is prolly much a doo-doo about nuttin'. My completely uneducated guess would be that since there are so many potential hits on Kenny's new album, they collectively decided not to compete against themselves and release this one later. And yes, maybe in hopes of being "The" definative beach song of the summer

couple quick things about the new CD. first off, i heard Conchy Tonk was dropped b/c of some Copyright issues (even though I think the name is great) and second of all, I have heard license to chill on the CD-ROM and Jimmy doesn't seem to have much going for him, on the CD it seems like it may have been thrown together last minute just to get something into SI. I hope the delay (for whatever reason) is used to fix that song, and any others that may have problems, I would rather have Jimmy's vocals stand out than Chesneys, it's not Chesney's CD. Either way, I can't wait to see what a whole Buffett album with a real country feel sounds like, should be great for the summer, a little something to go back to my musical roots...

Well in that case, lets go back to Conchy Tonk, I think it's a great name for the CD, especially if it is supposed to have this country feel to it, I can't think of a better name for the mixing of the country and Buffett generes...

I'm with you on Conchy Tonk. I think it captures the meeting of two genres better than License to Chillfishinforfood wrote:Key Lime Lee wrote:can't copyright a name or a phrasefishinforfood wrote:couple quick things about the new CD. first off, i heard Conchy Tonk was dropped b/c of some Copyright issues

I too preferred Conchy Tonk, but what can you do? Maybe the delay is due to another name change after seeing the feedback?
I am completely surprised about LTC thus far... in other words, I expected it would be all over the media in conjunction with the release of the Swimsuit Edition. I thought we'd be inundated with it via radio, video, appearances and interviews, print etc, cross promoting both SI and JB.
Instead, I haven't seen anything on tv, I've heard 1 tiny mention of it when KC was a guest to a local radio station on the day SI came out, and nothing else.
I'm not complaining, as I was a bit concerned about getting tix, etc. But boy, my hunch was way off! So far, it's not much different than past cd releases have been.
