I agree here, it could have been a publicity phrenzy with that SI release if they could have gotten the album out by now. I think they may have missed the boat here, but who know, maybe they have something else up their sleeve or maybe Jimmy was just not happy with how it came out. All I know is I can't wait for a new JB album no matter what the name is. And I really can't wait for the release of the summer tour dates!Tiki Bar wrote:I too preferred Conchy Tonk, but what can you do? I am completely surprised about LTC thus far... in other words, I expected it would be all over the media in conjunction with the release of the Swimsuit Edition. I thought we'd be inundated with it via radio, video, appearances and interviews, print etc, cross promoting both SI and JB.
Instead, I haven't seen anything on tv, I've heard 1 tiny mention of it when KC was a guest to a local radio station on the day SI came out, and nothing else.
I'm not complaining, as I was a bit concerned about getting tix, etc. But boy, my hunch was way off! So far, it's not much different than past cd releases have been.

Buffett used the words "Conchy Tonk" on the updated version of Saxophones. Did anyone sue him over that? I also wonder sometimes about the fuss over Buffett making a "country" album. Has no one heard his earlier records or Riddles in the Sand. Country (along with many other styles of music) have been incorporated into this sound from the very beginning. I'm actually more concerned about some of the artists that are being deemed "country" rather than Buffett making a country record myself.buffettbear wrote:Maybe a trademark issue. Not a copyright. You can trademark names and phrases.

i'll take a different angle, maybe the song was released early in the hopes that it would create a great buzz i.e. through sports illustrated and then the today show.but after it was released, jimmy has actually listened to the majority of the replys about the song and has decided to rework the whole project.whatever it is it has to do with money...

I thought that March 30th sounded to good to be true for a release date. Oh well, with George Strait, Alan Jackson, and Kenny Chesney all on this one, it's gonna be an albums worth waiting for. I'm also looking forward to the release of his book. But most of all, I can't wait to see him live for the first time.
