Jimmy at the Fenway!!!!!!!!!!

Post by PhanonHarley »

Jimmy coming to the Fenway, i think this stinks, what about everyone else? It surprises me that with all the ParrotHeads the pilgramage to GeatWoods that there is not more chatter about this topic. How will we all fit in the tailgating section the they will so graciously give us,and the Fenway itself, god its tough to watch a baseball game there, nothing to say about a Buffett show. To tell you the truth, it really surprised me that Jimmy would do his shows there when he knows Greatwoods is such an event in it self. I'm saddened!!!!

So, when you say "not more chatter", you don't think the other 50 threads and thousand posts on this topic is sufficient? Don't worry.. Labor day is still open and the general feeling is that he's not going to skip GW.

You missed all the threads because they were all moved together in the news section and now the story is down on the list. Most of us here in Mass are not happy about fenway. I dont have good feelings about 4 shows here, he hasent done that in a long time. They are holding the greatwood shows in case fenway falls thru. If he does both I will be pleasently surprised.

Misunderstood

Post by abbacus »

I could have swore that before this Fenway deal was becoming more official that it would have been the coolest thing for those in the area. More people better show or whatever the case may be. Bubba may be wanting to do it for other reasons to such as the amount of people that can get into the show. I was thinking it would be significantly more. Sometimes it seems that we all forget that this is a business and sometimes business decisions have to be made. Just my thoughts after reading the many many many posts on the subject.

Well, after attending five straight years of shows at Great Woods, it appears my wife and I will be giving Jimmy a pass this Labor Day weekend for the first time in as many years.

Travel up to Fenway from Long Island for a JB concert...no thanks!

Great Woods was special...Fenway is just another cookie-cutter stadium show.

I'm thinking FENWAY could be one helluva FEEDING FRENZY (or 2)!!! If Great Woods doesn't happen and Fenway does.....those that don't go just because it's not Great Woods, might miss out on something they will later wish they hadn't.

I'll go, because I enjoy the concert, but I bet it wont be like greatwoods. It will be an adventure.......an andventure in how not to get arrested. If we cant rent a parking lot (like some club members have mentioned) I'll go late.

To borrow an expression, seen one JB show, you've seen 'em all...the difference is the parking lot experience, and the interesting and strange people who make it up.

Yes, there is always the possibility that we might miss something, but my wife and I long ago decided that when JB gives up the GW dates it is a sign that maybe it might be time to hang up the fins.

Clearly, if Jimmy makes the atrocious decision of denying his fans "the greatest parking lot on the tour" (JB's words, not mine; circa last years GW show), then it is clear to us that he no longer has his fans centrally in mind. By going to Fenway, he is going for a larger gate and a less intimate experience. If that is what he wants, then so be it. It is his decision to make.

There is no real way to tailgate at Fenway, and who needs just another impersonal stadium concert?

Last year during Saturday night's GW show, my wife commented that the crowd was just on fire that night, and it really made a difference in the energy of the show.

If JB really jettisons the GW shows, it is really going to ruin my Labor Day weekend...hell, I don't know what will replace the GW parking lot!

The same??

Post by abbacus »

I have been to only a hand full of shows to see Jimmy, however I believe that no 2 shows have been the same. The parking lots are the more or less the same. Although it is different people it is all the same. There is always the pickup truck with sand and a pool. The minivan with the fin on top. But anyways the point I am trying to make is, how often does Jimmy actually see the parking lot at any show. Has anyone had a siting of him??

I hope Jimmy does Great Woods on Labor Day weekend for everyone that looks forward to it every year (and the many that have made it a Labor day weekend tradition). If he dosen't do Great Woods and ends up doing the Fenway shows, I would try and make it a Great Experience even though Great Woods didn't happen. It's all what you make of it. Everyone claims to have the best parking lot....and some are better than others. Jimmy stated that he and the band voted on Alpine Valley as the best parking lot last year. I've been to several venues and had a great time partying at each of them. Fins Up!

I have to disagree.... I've been to show's in Atlanta, CT, MA and Indy and there is nothing like the tailgating in MA.. Of course there is tailgating at all shows HOWEVER GW tailgating is the best... It's an all day event that sometimes even starts the night before... As for Buffett playing at Fenway.. I think it's a great idea but I don't want to give up the GW shows to see him perform there..
