Can a local please check the expedia directions to the Super 8 for me from 70? I sort of know Columbus, but more the Bexley/Whitehall/Easton/Fairgrounds area than the campus area.
From 70:
Keep LEFT onto I-670 (Grandview Ave) 2.3 0:02
7: At exit 2B, take Ramp onto SR-315 (OH-315) 4.3 0:04
8: Turn RIGHT onto Ramp (North Broadway / Olentangy River Rd) 0.1 < 1min
9: Keep RIGHT to stay on Ramp (North Broadway East / Olentangy River Rd) 0.2 < 1min
10: Keep RIGHT to stay on Ramp (North Broadway East) 0.1 < 1min
11: Turn RIGHT (South) onto Olentangy River Rd 0.3 < 1min
End: Arrive End
Is this going to get me lost (I could get lost in a parking lot)?

Coconuts Your directions look right to the Super 8. It's on the east side of the road - the left with your directions. IMHO it's a pretty good hike to the Schottenstein Center from the Super 8. There are not any sidewalks along Olentangy River Road so be careful. I believe there is enough grassy area near the road for you to walk.

I agree about it being a pretty good hike to the Schott from the Super 8. It's do-able, but would probably be a pretty sobering experience. A few years ago I worked about 2 buildings down from the Super 8, and unless something's changed, there is a COTA bus stop very close by. That might be an idea worth considering, especially if the weather doesn't improve by Saturday. I'm going to look for a bus schedule for more details, but it should be a very short, cheap ride. I'm not a huge fan of public transportation, but I'm thinking it'd be a bit safer than trying to hike down Olentangy River Road.sharkette wrote:Coconuts Your directions look right to the Super 8. When I called the Super 8 about early check-in, they said we might be able to check-in early - it all depends on the rooms they have available at that time...and if we can't get in the room...parking lot...Here we come!!!Those of you staying at Super 8...has anyone asked the hotel about early check in? I just noticed on my reservations its at 3:00. I am hoping they let us in early considering how early everyone will be partying

Then if the tailgating is lame or not happening, walk on over to the party at the Holiday inn. It's not that far, although the alcohol intake may make the walk back over to the Schott seem far.MermaidInOhio wrote:I know this has already been discussed, but I'm still not clear about this - do we think it's going to be okay to tailgate in any of the lots on Saturday, or is everyone just planning on playing it safe and joining the festivities at the Holiday Inn?
We'll be at the Super 8.....anyone else stuck there too?
See ya'll in THREE DAYS!!!![]()

I have no name tag but just look for the bearded guy wearing a Black Buckeye cap (Block O) and most likely it's me. Look forward to meeting you folks.
And as people have already said, Keep your alcohol in stealth mode to prevent any possible run-ins with the men & women in blue. Especially for the minors mentioned. Those of you with rooms have an advantage.
We are semi-local and didn't get a hotel room...I'm sure I'll be kicking myself in the butt come Saturday night, but...
Anyway, we were going to park at the Schott and walk to Holiday Inn. The walk may be just what we need to keep the BAC reasonable!

[quote="Smart woman"]Sounds like we've got a lot going on at the Super 8 as well!
Dumb question about the open container stuff...will a fast food cup w/ a straw do the trick?
Not a dumb question at all. It all depends on what kind of mood CPD is in and how well you comport yourself. Chances are, they may be on the lookout for people in Hawaiin shirts and other island themed attire walking between the Schott and the Holiday Inn.
To be on the safe side, I would do my drinking in either lot and walk the streets empty handed. Why give the city more of your money on a stupid citation if you don't have to.

I will be there this saturday. Am bring a lot of Buffett virgins with me. We will probably go straight to the Schott, but if it is lame, where exactly is the Holiday Inn?

Re: Where is the Holiday Inn at?
Holiday Inn is right across the bridge from the Schott, you can't miss it when you walk across the bridge. We are heading to the Schott Parking lot and not going to the HI, you just can't beat actally tailgating at a JB concert.mharrod wrote:I will be there this saturday. M Matt,
How confident are you they will allow "usual" Buffett tailgating action in the Schott parking lot?
My concern is that if the local Buffett club is sponsoring the party at the holiday inn, they may know something we don't.
The weather is looking shaky right now.
All columbus attendees, please use your fin power to bring those sunny skies to cloudy/rainy Columbus for Saturday...

I'll do what I'm told. I take direction well.Coconuts wrote:Ok, so Super 8 people- You guys want to all carpool over to either the Schott or the HIFOS, then just cab it back? As long as we leave one car at the Super 8, we'll have transportation to the other cars the next morning.

I dont know what the heck we are going to do. I want to see how the street is laid out when we get there. If it looks safe enough I think we will walk to the Holiday Inn from Super 8....if its looking like its possible one of us is going to get run down I am thinking we might have to figure something else out.

After getting just a bit primed at the Super 8, drive over to the Schott lots. Continue the priming and then walk on over to the Holiday inn to meet some of the other BNers. (continue priming)Coconuts wrote:I know this. Unfortunately, so do I. This decision making stuff is annoying!
Then walk back to the lot for a the final tailgating barrage before JB hits the stage.
Covers all the bases and tailgating action..........
