If I remember correctly the path from the Schott to the Holiday Inn
includes walking over the expess way....don't fall over. <g>

Seriously, it is not a bad walk, there is a sidewalk.

No walk over an express way, just a walk over a new bridge with big sidewalks. Easy walk, 3 minutes max.

I wonder if OSU will be running a shuttle bus from the North parking lot to the Schott? Normally, during sporting events at the Schott they will run a shuttle. It may be easier for those of you staying at Super 8 to hike to the North parking lot (off Ackerson Rd.) and hop on a shuttle bus. The walk from the Schott to the Holiday Inn is easy. Lots of big sidewalks. The bridge goes over a river so don't lean too far! OH - there will be a big tent over the festivities at the Holiday Inn.

We are staying at the Red Roof Inn on Ackerman Road. Does anyone know how far this is from arena? Is it walkable?

I just read this on JimmyDreamz's message board.........sounds like what they did 2 years ago.

Hi there -

I've never posted here before but I live in Columbus and found out some info. on the tailgating situation.

Tailgating will be allowed in the parking lot. First come first serve for spots and I think the lot opens at 3. If you can't drive home you can leave your car(s) there overnight and they will not be towed.

The Schottenstein Center is also having a party in the field by the west lot. They're going to set up a tent, tiki bar, etc.

The Red Roof Inn is closer to the Schott than the Super 8. I would say that you are less than a mile walk to the entrance to the center.

This info is posted on the Schott website:

Here is a sample itinerary for a COTA bus ride to the Schottenstein center

Itinerary Detail
Origin: 3232 OLENTANGY RIVER RD, COLUMBUS
Destination: SCHOTTENSTEIN CENTER

Request: Departure of 1:00p on 05-22-2004

Valid: SATURDAY service in effect from 05-03-2004 to 09-05-2004

Start 12:38p
End 12:43p
Duration: 4 min.

Your trip has no transfers and will take 4 minute[s].

Depart 12:38p from stop OLENTANGY RIVER RD & UNION CEMETERY on line 18 KENNY ROAD SOUTH. Arrive 12:43p at final destination stop OLENTANGY RIVER RD & SCHOTTENSTEIN.

Depart: OLENTANGY RIVER RD & UNION CEMETERY 12:38p

On route: 18 KENNY ROAD-OSU TO DOWNTOWN

Arrive: OLENTANGY RIVER RD & SCHOTTENSTEIN 12:43p

For anyone not familiar with the area, Union Cemetary is across the street from the Super 8.

You can plan a trip by going to www.cota.com and entering your starting address and final destination, as well as the time by which you wish to arrive. It will then display an itinerary similar to the one above.

The distance from the hotel to the Schottenstein Center is walkable, but Olentangy River Rd. is definitely not pedestrian-friendly. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it's probably best to play it safe. There might be a lot of jealous, bitter, Columbus motorists who are still irked that they didn't get tickets for the show. I don't plan on testing their patience.

However you decide to travel over to Lane Avenue, please be careful. 8)

Damn, another pre-party to attend. I hope the Schott lots open before 3:00. I want to drive there and then walk back and forth between the partys. Is everyone still planning on meeting at the Holiday Inn at a specific time or has that plan been shelved?
2 more days of hell before I get to unwind and uncork the white lighting!

Hi,

If anyone is interested.....I have been calling the Holiday Inn on the Lane all week to see if they had rooms for Saturday. They finally had a few cancellations today. I was able to book a room and they said the still had a few left. Good Luck.

FYI

Found this on JimmyDreamz message board for those if you staying at the Holiday Inn:

FYI:
For those checking into the Holiday Inn on Saturday beware. A whole mass of parrotheads was trying to check into the Amerisuites in Charlotte on show day. They did not allow anyone to check in early so at 3pm they were lined up outside the building to check in. The wait was over an hour, close to two hours for some. Lets hope that won't be a problem at the HI.
