If no Nashville, Cincinnati or Indianapolis--better place?
It kinda looks like Jimmy will not visit Nashville.
Which place has better tailgating.....Cincinnati (Riverbend) says no tailgating in the parking lot, Verizon also says no tailgating in the lots. I know there are lots and fields around both places, but wouldn't it be nice to have one LARGE parking lot where all parrotheads congregate and wouldn't have to travel from lot to lot to see everything and everybody? And what's up with two shows in Indy, none in the midwest or midsouth? What a discombobulated year for concert dates.

I went to the show last year in Indy and wasn't overly impressed... the highlite was when AJ came out. I have friends come from MA and we were all disappointed with the tailgating atmosphere.. I've never been to Cincy to see a show but think you might be better off.. My question is.. why is JB playing two shows in Indy??

Indy
I had one experience at Cincy and it was a horrible one. Aside from the crowd being unruly the mosquitoes eating me alive and the venue sucking it was OK. I was there in 01?? After the concert was the best part because as I was comfortably in my car awaiting to exit it began to pour rain in buckets. What fun it was to watch those same unruly fans scatter. My last concert was in 02 at Indy which was the best experience I have ever had. It rained tons but it was still spectacular. The traffic situation at either place is horrendous I think, although Cincy is a little better.

Cincy
I went to Cincinatti in '02 and it was awesome. The tailgating was the best. Don't remember much about the show for some reason.

Cincy is fun. If you want to tailgate, get there early! Very early -- like in the a.m. hours. You can not tailgate in the regular lots, but only across the street from the ampitheater. Last year they closed the big tail-gate lot which is why you need to get there early this year. The other lots are very small. If they close the big lot again this year, there will be limited tail-gate space. If you get a tail-gate spot, you'll have a GREAT time! Those Cincy pholks are great tail-gaters!
DO NOT SIT ON THE LAWN IN CINCY!!! If you can't get a seat, don't bother to go! The lawn at Cincy is the most horrible experience I've ever had. You can not see the stage at all. They overbook it and it's so crowded you can not even move. And they call it a lawn, but it's actually a mud hole that they cover with hay the day before the show! I've tried sitting on the lawn twice at Cincy and both times it was horrible! But if you get a seat, you'll have a great time!

I haven't been to Indy or Cincy yet, and was wondering something. Almost everyone on here seems to like Cincy a lot better. Why is JB doing 2 Indy show and only 1 in Cincy?

My first guess would have to do with the CiP in Indy. Also I believe that 2 shows in Indy used to be the regular thing until recently. I also am thinking that last year was 2 shows in Cincy but maybe I am wrong on that one.BoozeInTheBlender wrote:I haven't been to Indy or Cincy yet, and was wondering something. It does seem odd that Indy gets 2 shows when Chicago has to struggle for them.

I've been to Indy and Cincy a few times each and I definitely prefer Indy. Simply because the venue is one of my favorites. Sure it says no tailgating, but if you're not too unruly they won't say much. The parking lot is much better. Lots of wide open space. The venue is much better with no bad seats in the house and it is much cleaner than Cincinnati, which doesn't really mean a whole lot to me, but maybe to others. Both are great shows, but Indy is by far better. The only downfall is exiting. Don't get in a hurry because it's a clusterfunk. As to why it received two shows, I'm not sure. Maybe because Jimmy really likes it there and it is centrally located, making it accessible from Cincy, Louisville, Chicago and possibly Detroit.

Hi all,
I think Jimmy has always liked coming to Indy for some reason. The first CIP is here and he might be checking in on things. Two of the last five years we have had very bad storms on the night of the show and Jimmy said durring his show that he and the band were taking bets on how many people would be there. They were guessing 4000 to 5000 and when he got there it was packed with 24,000 durring a downpour. He said things like this don't go unnoticed. Also, the 9-11 show was scheduled for Indy and the resheduled show was his first back. It was an emotional show and he kept saying all night how great it was to be back and how we all needed this. Tha Allan Jackson video was also taped here. I just gotta believe he really appreciates all the support Indy has given him over the years and he doesn' forget that. I have never been to the Cincy show, but I never miss an Indy appearance and plan on seeing both shows this time around.
See you in Margaritaville.

Cheeseburger in Paradise
If you are coming from out of town contact Cheeseburger in Paradise on Indy's southside and ask about their package deal. They offered last year a deal that included hotel room at one of the hotels next to the restaurant, tailgate at the restaurant prior to the show, and transportation to and from show. Might be worth checking out....
