World travelers

Post by pirateat30 »

Ok all you worldly people.

I'm looking to go to either Paris, France or Dublin, Ireland for a few (4) days end of April with my wife. Where would or have YOU gone....recommendations?

Thanks

I loved Dublin...granted I was there to run a marathon so I did not get to do too much site seeing...but it was shortly after Sept. 11th and the people were warm adn friendly...very compassionate. if you love pubs and quaint restaurants...with some history thrown in...I'd say dublin! I can not wait to go back again!

Haven't been YET but Ireland. I hear go, rent a car, don't have a plan, stop wherever the pubs are and find a place to stay. This came from several people from Ireland.
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

Oh golly, Ireland wins hands down!

(psssst....the French people don't really like us Americanos :-? )

Two other really great places are Munich, Germany (they have REALLY big beer mugs! ) and Edinburgh, Scotland. Simply two of the most beautiful (and fun) places I've ever been to.

I would pick Scotland for sure over Ireland. We had loads more fun and more to see in Scotland!

I would give Paris a miss - interesting place, but plenty of other better places to go to!

Agree...Ireland!!

We went to Paris...and while it was OK, it was nowhere near as interesting as other cities we've been to. The people in Paris DO have an "attitude" about Americans.

If they go to Ireland, maybe they can pub crawl til they find the one that has "for a good time, call NJPP" on the bathroom wall! :wench:

I believe Paris is a place that you should see at least once in your life. It is a beautiful city with so much history.

That being said...Parisiennes are loaded with attitude if you don't speak French. It's hard to enjoy a good meal or much of anything else when you get attitude. If it were me, I would probably fly into DeGaulle and see a couple must sees (Notre Dame, The Louvre, the tower, and stroll the west bank for a day). Then take rent a car (or take a bus or train) to the chunell and go to UK. Rent a car and drive the English countryside for a day.

That's what I would do.

Well, if you are changing venues for the beach setting, might I suggest Costa Rica. A little less touristy than Mexico.

I think it's because it offends them that we shower every day.
